Coworker and I went to Flirty Bird yesterday in Royal Oak. I’ve never been before but I’ll certainly be back.

I’m not a spice fiend but the medium spice level was perfect for me. Chicken sandwich was really good.

Wife and I wanted to try the new Crowfoot Cactus Club for lunch on Saturday. We figured going at 3pm would give us a decent chance of a table. Turns out we were wrong, there was a 1 1/2 hour wait for tables. So good for them I guess? It's still new and somewhat of a novelty perhaps.

I've tried it. Pretty good, but sure is pricey. Would have loved a spicy chicken option tho.

Yeah it's not a bad option for us in the deep South. I find the fried chicken to be a bit too crunchy, but otherwise good quality and I like the fries and gravy.

7-11 on Macleod by Parkhill is completely shut down and boarded up. Signs and gas pumps removed.

Not sure what the plan is going forward there

I wonder how many 7-11s are left in the city compared with the peak, which i’d guess was sometime in the 90s?

That one might have had a lot of problems with homeless and crime due to proximity to the train? I seem to recall it was kind of shady feeling.

The MacLeod trail gas market for commuters should have kept it alive otherwise.

Not sure, but keep in mind 7-11 purchased 148 gas stations and stores from Esso a few years ago, mostly in Western Canada and concentrated in Vancouver, Calgary, and Edmonton. Link below indicates 595 stores Canada wide with a staggering 243 (41%) in Alberta.

Highly, highly underrated post. Japanese 7-11's are terrific. So much variety of food and drink, and excellent customer service.

Did you pick up some Chipotlaway later for the cleanup?

It’s kind of unbelievable to suggest that 7-11s vary that much from country to country, but I can also vouch. I’ve been to some in Europe that make the Canadian/US ones look like garbage factories in comparison.

Unless something is afoot, 162nd is about to have two 7-11s about 300 yards apart, and that's not including the one 2km closer to Macleod.

How does everywhere on earth get better bread than here?

Remember when Aviv Fried had those bakeries (sidewalk citizen) that were touted as the best. Everything tasted like blood because my mouth was bleeding from the razor sharp rock hard edges of the bread.

this bread is great, does anyone have any oral sutures?

I can't eat Viet subs because of this. It always cuts the roof of my mouth. Even if i step on them and squish them flat!
