oh update on the Toys R Us grand opening. It was awesome! Somehow they messed it up and not only did they give you 25% off everything(not just 1 item), everything in the store was already 10% off and they lumped it together. So it came to like 35% off everything.
I wonder how much money they lost? lol.

You love to see it. The program has its challenges (especially technical ones), but adding 2,300 residences in the downtown core is outstanding. Hopefully the demand keeps going strong when funds become available again.
|
Where is the funding coming from for the program? Seems like win-win-win for the City-people-whomever else is funding the program so would be a great opportunity for the Feds/Province to add a little more $$ to the kitty.

The province wouldn't be interested unless they can somehow blame Trudeau at the same time.

Bain Capital over leveraged the parent US company and abused it for profits rather than sustainability. Toys R Us Canada never went bankrupt. Its now owned by the same company as Sunrise Records which somehow resurrected the ashes of HMV.

Nah, that's what private equity companies do; scoop up a failing business and bleed it dry.
Bain is how Mitt Romney made his bones before becoming Governor of Massachusetts.

Renowned artist Maya Lin chosen to design terrace at Glenbow Museum
https://calgaryherald.com/entertainm...glenbow-museum
Pretty excited for this! With a new design movement focusing more on active and engaged rooftops, this will fit well as part of the scope of the project and the facility's central urban presence.

I tried it the other day. Tasted better than the last few times I had it in the States. The lines have been long but you can order online and they’ll have your order ready in 10 minutes. You can pickup your order from the drivethru window.

However, Fairfax seems to still own all the Toys R Us real estate from the original deal as well as get some kind of royalties from the arrangement. Ultimately this is good because its owned by a family owned company now that reinvests the profits here instead of sending a bunch to the parent Toys R Us in the USA that went bankrupt.
The difficulty for Toys R Us to open back up in the United States is that they don't have the 40 year old real estate footprint anymore which was a significant advantage for Toys R Us to have ownership of those big stores and lots.
