Spoiler!
Von Sydow is revealed as a character named Lor San Tekka, rumoured to be a man in possession of information vital in the quest to find the missing Luke Skywalker. Oscar Isaac’s Poe Dameron meets him on the desert planet of Jakku, but they are interrupted by the evil First Order. A message is placed inside Dameron’s droid, BB-8 and he is sent off into the night.
Spoiler!
From this it sure sounds like the movie is following in the steps of ANH if true.

Ya so we know that Luke is missing and has gone into hiding for some reason and we know that they are desperate in finding him, both sides of the force... we just don't know why yet. I am expecting a huge reveal that will shock everyone.. something bigger than this new Vader showing up.

Just because I like putting ideas out there that will never happen
at some point our heros Ray, Finn, Solo and Chewie get captured by Kylo Ren and taken to a grand hall in the castle. They are taken to a large room where at the end they see a large throne where Luke Skywalker looking wan and broken is sitting tied up.
Rey and Solo break away from their guards and run over to Luke and start telling him that they found his lightsaber and that Kylo has it.
Suddenly Luke looks up at Kylo and nods and says "You have done well Kylo Ren, now Darth Ren.
Luke shucks off his binders and stands up to the look of horror on Solo's face that slowly turns to rage.
Luke - "This is all proceeding as I planned, we now have all of the dangerous Force artifacts and potentially the last of the Jedi"
Solo - "Why you scruffy looking nerf herder"

That quoted part would be an interesting take. I can imagine Luke sending out his padawan, Ren (maybe nephew?) to seek out and collect all of the dark artifacts only to become more and more "possessed" by the items.

Ive been slammed with work and a couple unexpected events that have taken up all of my free time the past few weeks so I've completely dropped the ball on getting tickets, anyone know of any theaters with some decent times/seats left?

I don't know if it was just added or what, but there's a 10:40pm showing at Sunridge on opening night (Dec 17) with lots of unsold seats right now.

The one at Cross Iron Mills had pretty good selection on/after the 19th.
Out of curiosity does George Lucas have like veto power over the storyline? Any influence at all? or is he completely out of the picture, and he just gets his cut from the movie?

I don't think he gets a cut or any rights to influence. His cut was the 4.05 billion dollars Disney paid him to acquire Lucasfilm.
Lucas was brought in as a "creative consultant" during the early stages, but Disney was not obliged to do so. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

He's out. He doesn't own Lucasfilm anymore, and therefore, Star Wars.
He can make suggestions (and has), but they are free to ignore him (and they have).
