I think the museum stuff with Hamilton was dumb, just some random stuff someone grasped at after a trade. There are always lots of different personalities in a hockey dressing room and players primarily get moved for hockey or financial reasons, if you tried to build an NHL team of only guys who hang out off the ice you'd have a pretty bad team imo. People willingly trade for players like Sean Avery and Evander Kane for god's sake who everyone can see are way more out there. He's about to turn 33 and he's been on 4 NHL teams which to me seems pretty normal. And Jersey is shopping him now because he's always hurt and playing bad lately.

It'd have to be a hell of a boost to make him tradeable.

The museum stuff was silly but regardless I remember at the time of the Lindholm deal I was really wanting Dougie off the team and I was over the moon pumped when they acquired him 3 years earlier
There is something about Dougie and it is hard to understand what exactly. He was traded twice before he was 25, the Canes didn’t make a huge effort to re-sign him and the Devils are trying to force him out at 32. I think he either annoys people or rubs them the wrong way because he has the size and skill of a franchise Dman.

I don't think Dougie is your typical hockey player in terms of office interests etc. I think it can sometimes impact the temperature in the room and that's where the museum stuff came

Seems like some good work in my eyes. Would be awesome, and even on the Coleman side of things - I think we’re looking at a 1st round + in return based on rumours of how hot the market is for him - O’Reilly+. That’d be somethin’.

It was believed that Boston offered Lohrei and a 1st a while ago, Craig didn’t bite.

That would be an okay deal but not something to jump on early IMO

I know it’s still up in the air as to whether the flames make these trades this year and how much they get in return but, if these potential returns do come to fruition and the team makes these moves this year, it will make for such an exciting future for the team. Even in the short term. I know the team will not be very good but I will just be excited to see these young players with new opportunities on the team. Win or lose.
Let’s take the rumoured/speculated returns out there and go with those. Flames could look at something like this:
Out: Kadri, Coleman and Andersson
In: 2026 1st round pick, 2 x 2027 1st round picks, Nate Danielson, Sean O’Reilly
Can finish off the year with:
-Parekh quarterbacking the powerplay and potentially building chemistry with Bahl or Weegar
-Zary coudl be given a long look at center for the rest of the season to see how he does. Maybe even try him with Coronato. I don’t think that has been tried even once since they had that awesome overtime winner in Montreal early last season.
-Move Klapka up the lineup permanently.
-Can call up guys from the Wranglers the rest of the season to see how they look.
Flames could/should end up with a top 4 draft pick which is perfect because I think all those players (McKenna, Stenberg, Verhoeff or Lawrence) would be cornerstone pieces. Dream choice would be McKenna skill go with that for this scenario. Also get to pick 2 more times in the first round in 2026 and could get some really high upside players with those picks.
Let this year picks, along with Potter and Reschny cook in the NCAA for one more year after this. Next season would be the true “bottom out” year. Not a bad year to do it either if they could by some crazy luck get Alexis Joseph. It’s tough to fathom how insanely deep the prospect/organizational depth under the age of 27 would be in terms of skill at that point. Going into the new barn (in no particular order):
FORWARDS:
Joseph
McKenna
Reschny
Danielson
Coronato
Zary
Klapka
Honzek
Gridin
O’Reilly
Potter
Stockselius
Wyttenbach
Suniev
Basha
Stromgren
DEFENCEMEN:
Parekh
Brzustewicz
Bahl
Mews
Morin
Phillips
Plus whoever else they pick with their other 1st round picks and if they continue to draft really well with their later picks.
That list is oozing with top talent and depth talent. It’s all a pipe dream at this point but it can all turn around really fast (1.5 seasons from right now) with smart moves and lottery luck. Here’s hoping we get lots of both.

All things being equal I would value a 2027 Boston 1st more than a 2027 Detroit 1st.
I see Detroit on the rise, whereas Boston could have everything blow up next year and sink in the standings.
Mason Lohrei is a lotta meh though.
Prospect wise they aren't going to trade Hagens.
William Moore or Dean Letourneau I guess.
Not a fan of Matthew Poitras

Even if it was the Leafs 1st, Lorhei doesn't impress very much when compared to Danielson.
I really want that Red Wing deal to happen now....

If it can be as a rental then I'm okay with the 2026 pick and Lohrei, especially if that pick is the Leafs pick as they just don't seem to be that good this year.
A pick in the 10-16 range is 2x as valuable as pick 29-32 IMO
Danielson + Detroit 1st would be the preferred return right now for sure though.

It all depends on Rasmus, if he does us a solid that would be a great return. But he is well within his right to decide to test free agency.
I believe both these offers were for a signed Rasmus though? I could be wrong.

Young RHS C on Boston: Matthew Poitras
Other young C's Boston has:
James Hagen's
William Moore
Hagen's won't be available but either of the other centers paired with the Leafs 1st is on par with the Detroit offer.
But you can't help but wonder "what if Hagens was on the table?"

I'd prefer that Conroy specify their earliest pick vs. trying to guess whether Boston or Toronto's pick will fall earlier in the draft.
