I used to love reading the World Weekly News even though I knew it was fake. Not saying that some people don't actually have inside information, some have demonstrated they likely do. It's easy to spot pretenders, but I don't see the point in calling them out. If people want to entertain themselves that way, who cares.
I think even most mainstream insiders are just using their own intuition and framing it as rumours a lot of the time.

Hanifin to Col for Byram+2nd
Hanifin to Vegas for Nic Hague+cond 1st (vgk makes cup final, if not, 2nd)
All these are with an extension worked out of course, and probably have some other bad cap coming back for this year.
Tanev I think will go for just futures if he isn’t self-rented. I would like to then turn those futures into Fabbro or Carrier from Nashville, neither one seems like they’re in the long term plan there (and it doesn’t even look like there is a long term plan in NSH.) Parssinen might be a good buy low option a la Sharangovich as well.
Of course I’m still dreaming about somethig around Hanifin somehow landing Mercer but I don’t expect to get anyone who can play top line C here, except for maybe Zegras but I think that’s even more unlikely.
Cgy 1st+Brzustewicz+Honzek maybe for Zegras? I don’t see the incentive for the Ducks.

Jacob Markstrom has more assists this year than Zegras. Not sure it will end that way but Markstrom has 4 assists in 32 games and Zegras has 3 assists in 20 games.

How often am I trying to take someone down a peg? I don't appreciate what you're implying here, because you're doing the same thing with that statement.

It is in an experiment that can't proven true or false anway.
If Elliott Friedman says the Flames and Devils are talking but a trade between New Jersey and Calgary never happens, how are you ever going to verify he was right that they were talking?

I'd take Nils Lunkvist in a Tanev package. 23 years old. Just don't think he fits in the stars system. That and Harley came up and just dominated with Nils ice time.
It's fair to say they gave Nils opportunity but I don't think he fits DeBoers systems.

The interesting thing about the Weekly World News is that once in a while, they came across a true story that was too sensational to ignore. They actually did a story on necrotizing fasciitis (‘flesh-eating disease) before the regular media reported it.
Still, I think our resident rumour-passers on CP have a significantly better signal-to-noise ratio.

Rumors are always a crap shoot. Claiming to have inside sources is what people are questioning, and rightfully so. Elliot is an legimate insider recognized by everyone.

Yes, but Marky also plays 60 minutes per night, and all PP’s.

I have been told by inside sources the Flames have been talking trade with several teams on several players. Keep an eye out on Tanev and Hanifin being moved in the next few weeks. The wildcard being Blake Coleman - anything can happen there.
This is fun

Some of you are really intent on chasing off the folks that are providing this stuff aren't you?

Can we restrict users from certain threads? Asking for a friend.
Why drive off the little bit of insiders we have when you can simply ignore them or keep the smug comments to yourselves.
It’s 1000% better than relying on E5 Eklund and the dozen other hacks…

I'd rather deal with trolls like Spurs/moon than the annoying jealous types who try to run some fans with actual connections off this site.

For those who think posters who come on here claiming they know some people in the business and hear things but are just making it up my question to you is why anybody would do that? As far as I know there is no CP prize for doing so. Unlike guys like Freidman and Seravelli we certainly are not getting any monetary gain. There is no award for garnering the most thanks. What you do get is a lot of posters accusing you of making stuff up or being a liar even though there is no logical reason to do so. So why would we share things we hear? I can't speak for the others but for me it's because for the most part I love the community on this board. It leads to discussion and gives everyone things to talk about. Not everything is going to come to fruition we hear.
As far as making these contacts I have been an avid hockey fan for 40 years. When I was younger I spent a lot of my tim with my uncle who worked in the Toronto Sun's sports department and he would take me to hockey events and as I got older his friends in the industry became my friends. Through him growing up as a Flames fan I got to meet all my heroes at one point or another. I am a very social person and in person I have one of those personalities that makes it easy to make contacts and friends. I have been on this board pretty much since day 1 although I think I might have used a different username then. I was on the Flames mailing board before that, I think a guy named Alan Caldwell ran that if I remember correctly. I wonder if he is on here. It's funny because I love ragging on Craig Button on here for his time as GM but that guy would answer every email I sent him during that period and we would get into some pretty amazing arguments! I wish I still had those emails! My point is I have been around it a long time and you meet people and you make friends and acquaintances. I have said before, I am not an insider, I don't do this for a living but if I hear something I will gladly pass it along because I like the community and it adds to discussion on the board. If you choose not to believe me or don't like it that's ok, your perogative. I just don't understand what makes you think someone would claim to know information they don't when there is no reward for doing so.

A few thoughts:
Some really annoying a** hats on this forum. Arrogant and don’t even know what they are talking about.
I really appreciate the tidbits of insider info we get from a few posters that have sources. Thank you and keep it up!
Lundqvist getting majorly overrated in this thread. Announcing he will likely be as good as Hanifin is preposterous.
That Zegras deal is very ugly for Calgary. No idea why anything like that would even be remotely considered.

Attention?
Still doesn't warrant people bring jerks for no reason though. This is just a place for entertainment at the end of the day. I'll take threads with "tips" from the local Orange Julius over ONLY tweets from Friedman and that hack Frank any day. Makes it more fun!
That said, I reserve the right to say I don't believe you if it sounds like bologna. But that's as far as my input will go.
