Both posters were quiet before the Zadorov, and Lindholm trades. I don't remember either calling Backlund being named captain when Andersson's name was thrown out there, or the Backlund extension.

I'm not saying they don't have any insider info, but so far only rasta the masta was ahead of insiders like Friedman with specific information. Again, if I've missed something I don't mind admitting I'm wrong.

This constant need to hold guys sharing information's feet to the fire is getting old.

I don't think either is in on the negotiations with Conroy. I don't think either have ever claimed to be 100% in the know about anything.

They have contacts that are two or three steps away (likely) and won't always come to fruition.

Not to mention every discussion / rumour doesn't end in a trade. Sometimes you get close and it doesn't happen making the rumour look bogus.

If you think it's complete BS ignore it.

But the majority of the site finds it interesting so this need to test their accuracy is getting pretty old.

Way back when I had friends on the team I used to share a bit of info here, not really insider type stuff but how the guys in the room were feeling about certain things. But I stopped because people on CP would get so bent out of shape about it.

It's fun to have those things in this thread, otherwise it'd just be mostly discussing fan proposals

I suspect there's an odd jealousy thing from some of the same characters that always try to take people down a peg. Reeks of it to me in some instances, anyway.

Many of the same people that feel the need to bash insiders are the same that went after Scorpion for stepping out into media circles.

That's the first time, I've ever said anything about it. I stayed quiet on purpose to see if there's any merit to any of the rumors.

I don't mind the discussion, but expecting the insiders(not named rasta) to give any information on anything that's imminent seems like an exercise in futility.

If we trade Hanifin, I hope the main return is a blue chip prospect just recently drafted. Like blue chip prospect, plus a draft pick plus cap dump with expiring contract.
But for Tanev teams will not give up a prospect so 1st will be main return but may be for 2025th?

I do get pretty hyped when I see one of the proposed returns is someone from the 1st round of last year's draft. We're disappointed we were unable to get an extra pick at the time but receiving it one year later is even better! (if it happens)

Trying to think up trades matching the M.O. from the Lindholm and Toffoli deals, where most of the value coming back is in a younger player rather than the futures.

Hanifin to Buf for Samuelsson+cond. 1st (top 10 protected, unprotected 2025 if not)+4th

Hanifin to Col for Byram+2nd

Hanifin to Vegas for Nic Hague+cond 1st (vgk makes cup final, if not, 2nd)

All these are with an extension worked out of course, and probably have some other bad cap coming back for this year.

Tanev I think will go for just futures if he isn’t self-rented. I would like to then turn those futures into Fabbro or Carrier from Nashville, neither one seems like they’re in the long term plan there (and it doesn’t even look like there is a long term plan in NSH.) Parssinen might be a good buy low option a la Sharangovich as well.

Of course I’m still dreaming about somethig around Hanifin somehow landing Mercer but I don’t expect to get anyone who can play top line C here, except for maybe Zegras but I think that’s even more unlikely.

Cgy 1st+Brzustewicz+Honzek maybe for Zegras? I don’t see the incentive for the Ducks.

Speaking of Scorpion, I haven't seen him in a while. Did he go AWOL because of how he was treated, or have I just missed it when he posts? I always found him to be super insightful and well articulated.

To your earlier point, Bingo, I agree. I love the added element of some rumours from insiders that may or may not come to fruition. Adds an interesting dynamic to this thread and keeps me coming back. Can we please not go on a witch hunt or make these posters feel bad for sharing what they know? All of them could be 100% false, and I would STILL feel like they add value to the discussion. Some people will project their misery any way they can.

Disagree with this, whether it's disinformation or misinformation it brings down the site. I sure would hope to read accurate posts rather than inaccurate ones. So what is your threshold for accuracy? Hockey rumours would be pretty scarce if they had to accurate( ie happen)

We all appreciate a juicy rumour. If an insider or otherwise hears or reads something, share it and let’s talk. Or if there’s just a general sense of heightened activity without details, say so. The GIF dropping without info or context is just annoying. It has nothing to do with jealousy.

You get what you pay for. Neither is being paid $200,000/year to mugg it up on TV while giving us 'insider info.'

The majority of users of this site come here to read, and don't even post. The old timer feuds are what bring the site down, not insider gossip.

You can only block so many of the bickerers. There would basically be nothing here to come to if it wasn't Game threads, SureLoss breaking stories and the odd insider gossip and related discussion.

I'd like it if this site was more like Reddit and we could vote certain posters into oblivion (even if that means no one reads my posts - unlike others I can admit I know nothing about being a pro hockey player).

Yup I agree. To me the insider/fan relationship is simple. The insider provides scoops -> they receive respect and clout, start getting media attention and maybe podcast appearances. If a busy season goes by and you have no scoops, and the things you did claim don't happen, well you can guess how that goes in the opposite direction.
