No, its likely a sign the trade is very close.

Agreed, might move the needle for teams sitting on the fence to up the offer.

Taking a while to get to 5000

Figured Vladar was a lock to start tomorrow, wonder if they'd give Wolf that game on such short notice. Or does he get a start at MSG?

I'm talking about the posters who really really want Tanev sat until he is traded because they worry about injury.
Yes, if there's an actual trade about to go down, you sit him. But if you are still taking bids and you sit him you are telling teams he's an injury risk and they lower the price.

Or you're assuring them he'll be 100% when they do get him.

I don't think sitting a guy is going to tell teams Tanev is an injury risk, they know the player and how he plays. They already know that.

I think that Chychrun mess last year has teams (and maybe the league) being more prudent on sitting players.

Just watched Ford V Ferrari last night. Conroy is Ken Miles hammering down the Mulsanne Straight, waiting until the last second to overtake Bandini and apply brakes for the Mulsanne Corner.
I hope Conroy and Tanev's brakes don't fail.

Sitting a player isn’t imprudent. It’s (injury) risk management. It’s easy to say Tanev won’t suffer a long-term injury until he does. I understand others say the Flames are in the playoff race, and I think that’s a valid reason to play Tanev. But I prioritize asset management, in the sense of ensuring the Flames can actually trade Tanev. Friedman has said the situation is red hot.

You can't sit a player indefinitely. Especially for a team that 'go to playoffs, let's go'
He has to be in the lineup until there is a situation where a deal is a go, and is down to the details.

Flames in my view are looking at asset management, Tanev trade interest is rumored to be very high. It makes sense to move him (quickly if they can), once the price is met
I doubt they pull him 3 to 4 weeks early if the trade was going to wait right till to the deadline. Could create issues with the roster.
However if it were close, my guess he would be removed from the lineup
Guessing there is a reason they are carrying 8 dman.

Yeah with his high risk style of play it would be better to move Tanev sooner rather than later for sure, but takes a team stepping up and paying the price like the Canucks did with Lindholm. Lately it seems like these deadline type deals never wait until the day of anymore but with 28 days to the deadline still, wouldn't be shocked if it takes another 2 weeks before things start to move.

First, why? What would be bad about that? Because you’re sending a message that you’re concerned about Tanev being injured. Everyone already knows you’re concerned about that. Because you’re not allowing other teams to scout your player? They have all the video and have had the opportunity to watch in person numerous times this season. Because you want to make the playoffs? This is the most salient argument against sitting him. If someone thinks this, I’d just say my priorities are different, but fair enough.
Second, I really don’t think it’s gonna take all the way until the deadline, but to be consistent, I acknowledge that my position has been that I’d be happy to see the team sit him from now, until the deadline.

Play him until a deal is close. It doesn't make sense to sit him out especially if teams looking to make a deep playoff run are sending their scouts out to window shop.
Yes they know that they're getting a defensive stalwart warrior in Tanev - but they need to look at how he would fit in their defensive system too and who on their current roster may be best suited to playing with him and they can't do that if he isn't playing.

They aren't chess pieces or stock options, they're people. And you aren't just managing the one player, you're managing the whole team - a team that is trying to make the playoffs. Sitting a guy for a month, is not an option.
