The Problem trump has is he has stated that he gropes women and just kisses them. So it's reasonable to believe that his statement combined with the women's statement is sufficient to believe it's true and therefore avoid liable

Regardless of political affiliations, I just can't help but laugh at Trump suing people for false claims and defamation. Like seriously, come on man. You don't need to slap us in the face with irony.

Honourable?
If they are going to blow it up the emphasis should be on maximum damage. I would think that would involve leaving them no chance of any sort of recovery.

Bill talks for first time after debate.
Quote:
Bill Clinton said of the debate, “I was proud of my wife. And I felt bad for the citizens who were sitting on the stage who had been told if they came here, they could ask questions about what they really cared about that affect their lives, and very few of them got to. I felt bad for them, but I was proud of her.”

I think in the US, the key (because it's a statement of fact and not opinion, and because it involves a public figure) is actual malice. Which means either knowing they're false and publishing them anyway, or acted with reckless disregard for the truth. The article goes to great length to point out exactly who they talked to in order to corroborate the statements. It's hard to imagine a judge deciding that their process here was a reckless disregard for the truth.
That said, I think Trump (or at least his lawyers) probably know that too. And no way is this going to trial before the election, it's just to intimidate other women and other newspapers, and try to (in classic Trump form) try to hit back hard whenever someone hits you.
(And it works, at least as far as his base! His supporters are saying that the fact that he lawyered up so quickly proves that he's innocent!)
Edit: actually, rereading the lawyer letter, I'm pretty sure that's right that the key is malicious intent, because the letter is trying to make that exact argument that they were reckless in their lack of investigation and the allegations are malicious. But I still think there's no leg to stand on there, both women had decent corroborations and both had good explanations about why they spoke out when they did. (And unlike in Canada, burden of proof is with the plaintiff.)

It's like Topsy Turvy World.
TRUMP: I grab women's genitals and kiss them and I can do whatever I want because I'm a star
SEVERAL WOMEN: He grabbed my genitals and kissed me when I didn't want him to do so
TRUMP: I'll sue anyone who says I grab women's genitals and kiss them when they didn't want me to do so

Why on earth did the Republican party allow this guy to be their standard-bearer?
Saw this coming all along
Hell, Mittens or Cruz or even frikken Mike Huckabee would have been on-brand. Not my choice obviously, but more-or-less consistent.
Seriously, Donald Trump?

Well, Trump is ridiculous like that. He brings up Bill Clinton's decades old alleged sex assaults, and then when his own decades old alleged sex assaults are brought up, he releases a statement stating how disgusting it is that the media would bring up decades old incidents and how desperate they must be to do something like that.

I've only found one "genital grabbing" story. The Businesswoman claimed he tried to grab her genitals on the plane. One claimed he pinned her against the wall and tried to kiss her. One said she felt like he grabbed her butt, or was pretty sure he did. Another said he kissed her cheek then her mouth.
I'm not making light of those allegations because they're all assault and unwanted sexual advances. Just noting it for sake of clarity for those who are simply adding the cases up.
The Miss Teen pagent thing seems slightly suspicious. Most of the contestants adamantly deny he came in, yet a few say they saw him.

They created a base of low information voters. They are by and large the Fox News crowd.
That crowd LOVES reality TV and hates "elites".
The rest was inevitable.

Perhaps just girls by the door getting changed by the door when he came in?

Well, I suppose a good day for Trump now might only consist of 1 genitalia groping allegation, 2 ass-grabbing allegations, 2 'surprise' kissing allegations, and 1 forcible kissing allegation. But let's not forget that this is added to a previous genitalia groping allegation, plus 2 rape charges.
The Miss Teen story has four who do remember Trump there, and 11 who don't. The vast majority of contestants did not respond or did not comment. Of the 11 others that did, some said it's possible, some were dubious, and some dismissed it out of hand. That's very different from 'most of the contestants adamantly deny'. To me that's not really that suspicious; maybe he came in, had a look, said a couple things and left, and maybe some contestants weren't there at the time or were in a different part of what was a very large, busy room. When you take into account similar behaviour at other similar events, and other comments he has made regarding minors, I'd tend to believe the victims here.

I think we are at a Cat III right now, borderline Cat IV.
Not exactly sure what would cause it to become a Trumpageddon, but I would like to see it happen.

She cannot possibly last that much longer can she? I know there's a good chance she doesn't get paid unless she stays till the end, but there's also a good chance she doesn't get paid even if she does. Someone needs to take their soul back from the orange goblin.

Trump must be the luckiest businessman in history, I'm sure nobody else in history became a billionaire being this crazy and stupid without a large amount of luck.
