For me that stems from him.
He's lifeless, dull, boring, devoid of passion and creativity with zero energy and intensity. Reflected by the team's performances.
That sort of crap under Fergie would have got you a teacup in the head.

Mourinho obviously brings his faults, but he absolutely brings passion. This team desparetely needs that.
Even those devoid of understanding/watching the game, can see United's goals-for/against stats-line, and hopefully comprehend how boring it must be.

They aren't pissed off just pissed up.

We'll that's nothing new. They should have played Millwall for their last match.

I'm sure you'd nitpick but ultimately had they won, who cares about how? If whoever the next manager is plays a much nicer style but produces identical results to Van Gaal in his two years, that manager will pretty much be in the same spot as Van Gaal is now.

I look at it like this. Would the Flames having a winning record be worth it if it was a Dave Tippet coached team.
I say no.

Results by themselves are not what counts. There needs to be a sense of improvement, of hope. In fact if United had won tonight AND on Sunday against Bournemouth AND the FA cup, you could bet that still the vast majority of fans would still want him gone. People have been looking for a sign all season of his #philosophy but still it is aimless clueless, uninspired dull football. And that is after spending over a quarter of a billion UK pounds.
And no, if the next manager plays a more exciting style of football and produces the same results he will not be in the same spot as van Gaal is now. Why? Because he will have brought energy and passion and hope and ideas and a sense of optimism. Something old cloghead has managed to suck out of the club.

Obviously not. I figured winning was what mattered most, and I assume that's why they want Mourinho because stylistically he doesn't really fit United either, but he's a winner and he'll have them well managed and prepared.

I'd be pretty surprised if the new manager goes 4th place, 5th place, and out of Champions League in the group stages, and is having the fans definitely clamor for him back, regardless of style.

Nik's analogy is actually quite good. Tippet/Lemaire will win their clubs games with their style of play, but it will not win them championships.
LVG I think is vastly overrated, yet his stabilizing I can appreciate as necessary. It's time to move on. His football is boring, and doesn't allow all his players to activate -- his countryman Cruyff developed a style, that I'd love to see United utilize. Yet LVG butted heads with him over it.
Mourinho isn't amazingly better, but he brings prestige, and while polarizing, attracts top talent. I feel the board could reign in his outbursts as well.

It's not even just United fans who are like this. Look at how many Spurs fans who called for AVB's head, largely because the brand of football he brought to the club was insanely boring and was only really masked by the fact that Bale pretty much dragged the team to a top 4 finish.

I feel like Carlo Ancelotti was the guy that fit Man U perfectly - always seems to play entertaining attacking football and does a decent job of bringing youth up into a squad.
Too bad that they lost out on him to Bayern.

yeah Ancelotti would have been perfect. Too bad for United that there's top clubs out there who actually work professionally.

I loved the way Bayern did that, they had Ancelotti in their back pocket the second Pep started stringing them along.
