I was very impressed what I saw out of Sed Ellis).
The offence had some rust, which I guess is expected on opening week, but I still liked what I saw. Bush looked great when taking quick pitches out of the backfield, and I LOVED what I saw out of Shockey, the energy he brings to the O is contageous. Unfortunately I still worry about our inside run game. PT looked good, but once he went down our run game fell off. Bush may have looked solid on those pitches, but I still felt he was dancing too much on hand-offs. If the Saints can establish a consistent and effective inside run game(through either Deuce, PT, Stecker, an FA signing(Alexander?) or all of the above), then this offence is complete.

Porter was excellent in coverage ... useless tackler tho, that will be exposed. But yea losing 3 of your top for corners and still beating that team is impressive.
Bush looks like a new man, faster and changing directions the way he did in college.

The Packers are going to screw around and lose this game. First Barnett pulls a jovomonkey and gives Minnesota 15 yards of field position for the onside kickoff. Green Bay recovers it but runs up the gut three straight times and are now going to punt to Minny with 2:00 to go. They didn't even try to get a first down. Playing not to lose is a good way to lose. Pretty poor coaching.

Crappy playcalling.
Crappy officiating.
Crappy defense.
All that equals a loss.

And can I add, the MNF crew is PAINFUL to listen to. At least Jaws give good insight, Kornheiser just makes my ears bleed and Tirico sounds like Bryant Gumble.

I have him in one of my leagues, but the thinking was just for this game. He's actually the starter now. When Marshall comes back, Darrel Jackson goes to the bench.
I see Denver's special teams are as sucky as ever!

Jon Ryan (Canadian, and played in the CFL before the NFL came calling) is rumored to be signing with Seahawks after getting released from Packers (was Favre's locker nieghbour last few years) last week.
Thank goodness...with all the other terribleness in that game, Ryan Plackemeier had a horrendous day, maybe he couldn't see over his gut, as half the balls went off the side of his foot time after time.

Well not to discredit the Bronco's who do look pretty good...but some things never change and the Raiders look just as bad as ever. Although their one corner is a really good player and he really threw a lick on Cutler there towards the end of the half. Still....I'm almost tempted to pick the Chiefs as my Survivor pick next week because Oakland has looked that bad!

They look horrible.
It looks like minicamp for them. Russell looks lost half the time.
I knew Eddie Royal would be a contributor this season but holy cow this is awesome!

McCarthy needs his freakin head examined.....coached so poorly the last half I was ready to put my fist through the TV screen.
Rodgers alleviated a lot of doubts though....terrific game for the kid....ESPN noted he had the 2nd highest completion % for a 1st time starter in NFL history. That's pretty good. Would of liked to see him stretch the field a few more times, but he was efficient if nothing else.
Ryan Grant looks like he is for real, and that will do nothing but help Rodgers as we move forward.
Adrian Peterson is just sick....if the Viking ever get a decent QB and receiver play at the same time...look out. That defense is just unreal at times as well.
Man do the Raiders stink...ugh. Hard to watch that stuff....but good for Denver ramming it down Oaklands throats.

I can't believe the Vikings are going to waste the talent they have with that QB. Jackson had 6 yards passing at halftime, and I was impressed with Rodgers, good presence in the pocket and no panic. I was hoping Jaws would reach over and kill Kornheiser after the 19th Favre reference in regards to Rodgers in the first quarter, it was ridiculous. On that note Brian Billick was the analyst for the Saints/Bucs tilt, and I thought he was fantastic, he would call plays ahead of time by formation, and really broke down offensive positioning. It was nice to have a commentator talk football rather than spew generalities.

I have found that coaches that turn commentators immediately after coaching in the league have the best insight. Vermeil was pretty good right after he finished with the Chiefs. He has studied the players, he knows the coaches, he understands the systems. Hard to beat that kind of insider knowledge.

Yeah, but they seem to get that drummed out of them.
I enjoy reading Dr.Z's rating of the commentators every year. He really points out which analyst is actually analyzing, and which are just telling stories. And that is one of the things that really seems to happen a lot during the big national broadcasts - the broadcast seems more intent upon telling stories than showing the game. I love it when Madden mentions something insightful about what the QB is keying on to figure out what type of coverage he is seeing, but the past few years there has been a lot more anecdotes about the type of walnuts in his turkey stuffing. It's football, talk about the game within the game.
