"(The recording) is great. We're all finished tracking, so we're getting ready to mix the record here with a fella called Joe Chiccarelli, who's fantastic, and then we let it hit the streets in September."

The new record is going to be called In Our Bedroom After The War, and Millan figures the band will be touring for much of the year after it comes out."

Amy Millan speaking about Stars new album “In our Bedroom after the war”

The Kings of Leon album is the best album of the year bar none....

Wilco's new album is the only one that would come close for me.

Interpol
Spoon
Architecture in Helsinki
White Stripes
Shout out Louds

These 5 are the ones i look most forward to checking out....

I just watched that video on youtube and she sang probably the worst rendition of War Pigs I have ever heard. Near the end it sounded like she belonged in a karaoke bar. Sorry to bash her, but as a big Sabbath fan that was tough to listen to. Her other stuff was good though, she has a good voice, just not that night apparently.

The new Queens of the Stone Age leaked.

It's not as good as their other albums, but overall, its strong. I only felt that three tracks were 5 star-worthy, however the album as a whole, is a good listen.

How many listens did you give it to come to that conclusion? Not criticizing, just curious...because I (biggest AIC fan in the world) remember absolutely hating Alice's 'Dirt' for about a week after it came out, except for the song Would? which had been out for months. Now it's one of my all time favorites.

I find a lot of stuff grows on me.

HDNet is great too for live performances, and the show True Music has interesting acts.
Cat Power (among many others) is playing the first annual "Sled Island" festival in Calgary at the end of June.

I've given the album about 4 or 5 full listens already actually.

I actually rated four of the tracks a full 5-stars. One 4-star track, and eight 3-star.

Which is actually about on par with how I rather all their other albums, yet this album doesn't have the same tone... or impact to it.

It's quite different.

Thanks for the detail. I can't wait.

I thought Lullabies was quite different from its predecessor actually.

Deadlock - Code of Honor

more female fronted metal, but this is quite different from the rest. pure melodic death metal with a mix of clean and rough vocals. this is the first single from the new album Wolves that just came out

A quick selection from Cake's new album, just a collection of B sides and rarer songs. This is a cover of War Pigs, pretty good actually.

Got any myspace or youtube links? I was at the store today and saw nada, so I wouldn't mind hearing some songs.

Rockstar, any tracks leak from it?

IIRC there is some way you can listen to the new single on www.matthewgood.org

It involves some sign-up, but it's free and fast. Also, it's mentioned on the site that the entire album will be available for listening several weeks before the CD comes out. Seeing as how it's only about 7-8 weeks away, that should be soon.

And, MG was on the Vancouver station FOX (I think) and they played the single. He also did some acoustic. I believe that's up on his website as well.

Matthew Good was my favorite musican for almost 10 years of my life - his last album wasn't all that great but I've liked what I've heard from this new one so far. I'm hoping he can pull it together and put out a good release.

Really loving that new MG track. Didn't need to sign-up to hear it.

It sounds a little too much like The Gin Blossoms for my liking but it's not too bad. I like the background guitar during the chorus quite a bit.

Yeah, it isn't bad, but it is a little folky for my tastes.

Pretty good tune. Not as happy as his White Light album, which is good.

Is that Holly Mcnarland on backup vocals?

edit: nm, it's Nadia Johnson.
