Seems pretty relevant to me. We're all speculating on why, what seems to be a prime asset, like Rossi is being made available and why he was demoted to the 4th line during the playoffs.

This is way off topic, but a barbell squat and a leg press are two entirely different activities. The current world record in squats is 490 KG. That was set by Ray Williams, who weighs 450 lbs. No one in the NHL is squatting anywhere near 400KG. The leg press world record is 1,120kg, so about 2.5x twice the squat world record. That's with proper form and depth.

No one got 70 points on this team last year
Frost had 12!!!! Points in the 32 games he was here
If he can get 50 points that’s a huge win especially with the style this team plays

This reminds me on here when multiple posters told me I was nuts when I said Sam Bennett was going to be a big player for Florida. He was putting up huge numbers in the OHL, the talent is there

Or when you spent multiple posts last offseason adamant Kuzmenko was a 80-100 pt talent ?
And Bennet has a career high of 51 pts . So at least he is actually a 50 pt player unlike Frost
Unless you think Frost is a physical playoff beast type performer ….

I said Kuzmenko has that kind of talent and he does, not my fault you suck at judging hockey talent. Want to make a bet Frost hits 50 means that you think he is not a 50 point player? Seeing how you constantly troll my posts how about loser leaves the board?

You actually said Kuzmenko was a star player and the Flames should try and sign him to a 6x6 contract.

I stand by that. I think Kuzmenko used properly as a pure top line offensive talent would be a bargain at 6x6. Almost a ppg with both Philly and LA once he got out of Huska's offense stifling system.

Kuzmenko was on fire when he first got to Calgary playing under Huska's offense stifling system. I believe the more likely explanation is that he is a really hot and cold player - great in Van, then crappy in Van. Great in Calgary, then crappy in Calgary. Maybe it is a complacency issue, and he needs a bit of a fire lit underneath his butt.
I just see him as the bargain-bin version of Kovalev. Kovalev was an absolutely elite offensive force.. when he wanted to be. Practically generational, but teams soured on him. It will be interesting to see if he gets a long-term deal. I think they go short deals with him given his history. I don't think it is Huska's issue. Kadri just scored a career high in goals, and Huberdeau had his 3rd best season in goal scoring too - just two off his best. Weegar getting 20 goals last year - career high that more than doubled his best season. Coleman getting 30 (career high). I am not convinced Huska's system is so stifling.

32 thoughts. The Wild are not making that trade to get worse (reiterated the Pens are the only team tanking).
Lots of teams want to make trades but everyone wants to get better. That is the challenge with the Rossi trade. Rossi and the team do not agree on his value. Looks like it needs to be a hockey trade.

Do they need D? I wouldn’t hate a Rossi and Andersson swap

The trade should be about acquiring the most valuable assets.
Then use those assets in another trade to get the player(s) that they want.
Trying to find a team and situation where you are getting the player you want and giving up the one you want to part with is very difficult.
Too many teams try to do this and that is why there is such a lack of trades.

I still remember watching the 2008 draft and seeing the Flames trading Tanguay for a 1st, 2nd and wondering what the hell they were doing? It was probably within the hour they had flipped their 1st to the Kings for Cammalleri. Flames swapped top 6 forwards and moved back in the draft 8 spots in 2 separate trades.
