Getting through transcripts of 15 different interviews has been... a process.

Yes, but that actually supports the argument that VGS is due to regress. CGY is rebuilding precisely because their core is old. They have the old guard, and a new young core that they are building. That's why they are a rebuilding team.
VGS has a very old core, and few younger players. I think they'll still be good next year, but they are due for a big fall soon. A couple key injuries, and it could happen sooner than later.

Sharangovich (26)
Farabee (25)
Frost (25)
Zary (23)
Coronato (22)
and maybe Klapka (24) and Parekh (19), will all pass Coleman and Backlund next year, so it's a pretty empty argument

I think this might be the trough of this iteration as a group. There is the possibility of individual regression, but as a team, I don’t see it.
Everyone agrees that we need that #1C, but that shouldn’t change “draft well and develop well”. If the superstar 1C doesn’t arrive easily, then depth will take the team a long way.

Craig also said a few bit. The team played defensive because we lack skill and speed. Speed is an area the are focused on and he mentioned the 04 team how they had success because of how fast they were. It was something I’ve always thought about how Sutter ripped apart the speed to make us slow and old when the league loosened the rules.
Also interesting to hear Feost say this is the most prepared coaching staff he has played for. Some posters have you think Huska shows up hungover wirh no plan.

Plenty of good players who finished with a big minus in their careers. When the Flames have a terrible GF/GA as a team, you get plenty of minuses.

While, granted, thats not a nice stat to look at, I think its also important to realize that Andersson played most of the tough minutes without a lot of help.
We knew going into this season that this team was going to struggle and throughout that struggle what they managed to achieve remains borderline miraculous.
I think that unfortunate stat is really because Raz was the victim of circumstance.
He still never hesitated to block a shot, played through injury...I dont know. That guy seems like a 100% team player. I feel that we all thought at the beginning of the season...get a top pick, this team is going to lose. But then...they started winning. At that point? Screw that, fight like Hell!
I've said it before and I'll say it again, the culture of winning and fighting is more important than any high draft pick. Because I think whomever we pick at whatever position? They're going to be stoked as hell to play here and they're going to know the expectations.
Yeah, I'm not thrilled about players ragging on fans and I'd have probably kept that to myself or worded it in a more 'we're a team and we want to win' kind of way, but the sentiment itself? I dont think he's wrong.

Playing with pain obviously makes any player less effective than usual. The decision on whether or not to play through it is not just up to the player. The coaching staff must have made the assessment that him operating at 80% (or whatever) was still better than whomever would be called on to replace him.

That to me was the bigger problem he shouldn’t have been playing.

All this talk of Anderson seeming like he knows the writing on the wall or is saying goodbye is fools errand.
Tkachuk and Johnny both said positive and glowing things on their exit interviews. It gave even me some hope. No sense looking into things until the pen hits the paper. It's wasted energy
I don't really care if he stays or not. What I want is a similarily high compete and character team. Who is on that bus when season arrives, makes no difference to me. Obviously keep the young guys and prospects, but I think keeping that culture and attitude is more important, and also makes the team and season more endearing and fun to cheer for. Just like this one.

Why not? Assume it doesn't hurt him further, there's no one better to replace even an injured Andersson.

And hence the problem. We didn’t have anyone that was remotely close. Backs as well it seems.
I have stated before it was disappointing that none if our ahl guys really seemed capable of taking the bull by the horns.

Name me one team that keeps a top-four NHL defenceman stashed in the AHL in case of injury.
