It's not roster and we have too many players. I'm not sure why we signed Lomberg, Mantha, Bean. May be Coleman, Kuzmenko, Mantha and one of Andersson or Weegar will be traded this season.

Bean-Weegar
Bahl-Anderson
Soloviov-Miromanov
Pachal

Vladar
Wolf

So a place for Pelletier, Klapka, Solo and Wolf as rookies.
After the trade deadline, or due to injuries I would expect Coronato to be on the team as well, as well as Pospisil moving up the lineup.
This makes sense. I also like that fourth line a lot… as long as they get decent minutes. I would rather not see Posposil in limited minutes if he keeps up his play.

Lomberg - for the GAF meter win or lose

Mantha - to flip at the deadline

Bean - for the competition for top 4 spots. Could be a decent stop gap for a couple of years.

I think the competition is good and that it will bring out the best from our prospects. Coronato might start the year in the AHL, but he'll get called up as soon as one of the top 9 is traded.

Pospisil playing center on the National team again. And doing well. Against not so great competition, but interesting nonetheless.

I do think he is well-suited for centre. Good size, strength and speed. His physical skills could translate well. The only issue I see is that Posposil will likely be the 4th line centre which likely limits his minutes.

Conroy did specifically state that perhaps Pospisil should be tried at centre. The easy thing to do here is to put him in as the 4th line centre and see how it goes. If he seems to look comfortable at both ends of the ice in time, start moving him up the lineup. The nice thing with Pospisil is that he does fit a 4th line role, and he gets a bit of protection there too with so many guys gunning for him this season. At this point, the Flames need to prioritize the future over the now, so getting young guys some reps at centre is in this team's best long-term interests.

I think Pospisil can end up becoming a 15-15 NHL'er (maybe 20-20 with a really good year) that is really difficult to play against. Backlund and Coleman are getting older, so a future line of Stromgren - Pospisil - Klapka would perhaps make for a really hard to play against 3rd line if they can generate some offence down the road.

The Athletic's version 1 of what they see as the Flames roster:

Huberdeau-Sharangovich-Mantha
Zary-Kadri-Kuzmenko
Pospisil-Backlund-Coleman
Pelletier-Rooney-Lomberg
Hunt

Weegar-Miromanov
Bahl-Andersson
Bean-Pachal
Hanley

Vladar
Wolf

On the surface it's not shaking out to be a great pick. But then looking at that draft, there is shockingly few interesting names after him. You've got a lot of really flawed players, some with higher ceilings (Kaliyev, Hoglander), some not-bad depth guys (Beecher), but nothing that stands out as an obvious guy they should have picked instead.
Not a great draft once you get outside the top 15. Pretty cruddy actually.

There is Pinto and Kochetkov and Vlasic. And later in the draft, Protas and Macelli (although no one pegged them as early picks, of course)

Seems like a possible line up. But I don’t think Posposil will be on Backlund’s line. If they are going to keep him on the wing, I think they’ll keep him with Kadri. And if he plays centre, it’s probably on the 4th line.

I don't think there's any realistic chance that they'll have Sharangovich at centre with both Zary and Pospisil on the wing.
