Great as always Sandman!

Duarte indeed stands out to me as well in terms of invitees, if the Wranglers need bodies I think he's a lock to make it as he was impressive out there.

I was fortunate to sit pretty close to the flames brass today so it was fun listening to them gauge the players and their compete/skills. Iggy also seems to be really high on the Honzek pick, and of course Coronato.

Parker bell was the standout from both groups in my mind, that guy came ready to show the staff he's serious about making it to the big club one day. He's not as good as the 1st round picks dont get me wrong, but he's really not that far behind in my mind and you could tell he put 110% into every drill. Just needs to work on those hands, maybe stick handle some eggs Mighty Ducks style lol.

Can't wait to see what he can do in the scrimmage tomorrow, even though it's 3-on-3. Relentless energy and motor, skating, and great shooting ability.

Pretty certain the Flames will sign Parker Bell, but I read somewhere that there's a loophole that, because of his late birthday, if they wait they can get some sort of contractual advantage. Or maybe I'm confused.

Largely attitude. He was a somewhat lazy player in junior

Love the write ups, happy to hear that guys are looking good especially Bell, Stromgren, Kerins and Coronato. From what I have seen of Stromgren highlights I’m quite surprised with how little points he had, big year from him coming up in the AHL

Really appreciate the write ups to those attending camp!

Does anyone know what Stromgrens plan is? Will he be with the Wranglers in the near future?

Sure he was, and at the time, I also hoped the Flames would be able to pick him up. The point is that it's very preliminary to declare that Honzek either is or isn't comparable to Getzlaf except if someone with a lot of hockey knowledge has done extensive viewing of both at this stage of their careers. There just isn't enough information out there at this time about how they compare, so anyone (not specifically you) who claims that Getzlaf was definitely a superior prospect, particularly based solely on prospect rankings prior to the draft, is making a claim that can't' be backed up with actual evidence.

I think css ranked him in the top 10 not 5 overall, pretty sure iss, tsn etc had him mid 1st round and most flames fans were happy with Phaneuf and some wanted Carter because unlike Getzlaf he had the high end goal scoring ability. I actually don’t even remember anyone talking about him at 9.

Maybe there’s an old thread here on that draft to see.

You keep embarrassing yourself. No one wants to hear your drivel but it’s fun to rubber neck at the wreck.

Wouldn't be surprised if Stromgren spends some time in the ECHL this year — Wranglers have too many wingers as is.

I know it's a lot to ask at the moment right now Scorp but would love to see your projected wranglers roster

Hah not at all. It's July, nothing to do.

Hunt-Zary-Schwindt
Pettersen-Jones-Klapka
Pospisil-Bishop-Kerins
Ciona-Rooney-Gallant
Duarte

Solovyov-DeSimone
Poirier-Poolman
Kuznetsov-Lyle
Gourley

As for the goalies, who knows. All depends on if they trade Vladar or not. I highly doubt they bring Chechelev back after signing Radomsky and Murphy. My guess is they carry all three of Dansk, Radomsky, and Murphy to start and then maybe send one of the latter two to Rapid City around Christmas.

Also, I dunno if they plan to keep Gilbert in the NHL as the 7 (I was assuming that'd be Oesterle's job, but maybe they move Hanifin and Oesterle becomes the 6). If Gilbert goes back to the A, I could see him playing on a pairing with Kuznetsov and Gourley being shifted down to Rapid City. I wonder if they might try to swap Rooney for a defenceman of similar pedigree during the season.

I think Stromgren and Nikolaev start in Rapid City. Injuries are gonna happen. On the opposite end of the spectrum, I'm a little more bearish on Duehr than most — I'm not sure there's a whole lot there beyond the SH% spike he rode during his call-up — and I wouldn't be surprised if one of him, Pelletier, and Coronato played AHL games this year. Of those three, I feel most confident about Pelletier spending the whole season in the NHL, but who knows. I also think Ruzicka could be traded if he doesn't find a full-time role quickly — he's not going back to the A.

I could see that top six shifting around a bit, for sure. Jones played higher in the lineup than Zary for a lot of last year and Schwindt was all over the place — centre, right wing, sometimes in the bottom six. Pospisil is a wild card with his injury history, but he's also very versatile in that he can play centre and wing. I would love to see him, Ciona, and Bishop on a line together. I could also see Kerins bumping Klapka off of that second line pretty quickly.

What makes all this more difficult to project is the coaching change. Mitch had a number of combinations he favoured and it was pretty easy to predict how he'd roll things on a nightly basis. I don't know who the new coach will be, nor have I any idea whether Nachbaur or Cirella will be retained (I'm assuming so, but I don't know for sure). So, we'll see how the new guy handles things.

Super excited to be at the scrimmage after missing the first two days of camp. Love this time of year ...

No contractual loophole for Bell; if he signs, it'll just be a "regular" contract.

CapFriendly has Stromgren listed with a European Assignment Clause for this coming season. I would *guess* it may be related to the ECHL, but I haven't heard anything definitive on that.

Interesting with all the talk regarding Honzeks shot, from his last year highlights it looked pretty average but clearly it’s not. I wonder if he has improved it since last year, from what I remember most of his goals were from in tight so maybe we will see a nice explosion in goals next year
