If someone would've told me in September I'd actually be a Gudbranson (and Zadorov) fan midway through this season, I'd be checking my cupboards to see what drugs they stole
I'd say you need to watch more hockey outside the Flames.
Adam Ruzicka >>>> Monahan. So much for Monahan working his way back from injuries. Overpriced 4C.
3 weeks ago I suggested Rudzica was brought up and may be being groomed to be a 3rd line center should Monahan be traded. I was told then by this boards wise men that was just silly basically.
He's certainly made everyone forget about Richardson. Monahans trade stock has improved and Rudzica didn't look out of place 3 weeks ago and sure doesn't now. Am I still a making a poor take on the center position?

Of course Islanders MIA and mustering 11 shots in two periods. Christ. No wonder they're not going to make the playoffs.
Mangypane of course with his 24th goal and a 22% shooting percentage scoring on a ton of pass across wide open goals. Does NHL scouting even occur in relation to Calgary. Is there proof to other clubs that the Flames exist?
I mean watch the Mangypane goal. The Islanders basically conspire for him to score there. Two Islanders fail to cover him at all, one walks right by him to the guy with the puck, doesn't even think about covering Mangy or the passing lane, and the goalie moves out of the way so he can slot it into an open net. You would think this is a WWF scripted play in a scripted game. Its that bizarre

On the live shot, I'm pretty sure I clearly saw it in the net... then all those replays weren't clear until the last net cam one... I'm not sure if they never showed the live shot or if it was just wishful thinking.... but it was a goal in the end so I'm not sure what their complaints are... and if they want her on their broadcasts - please, please, take her.
I was at the game (so I suppose I shouldn’t comment on the commentary) but from my (cheap) seats I was pretty sure on the outcome

Yeah, I think you may be getting too excited over decent 4th line C performance out of Ruzicka. He’s not ready for the minutes quite yet. But that said, he makes a good case for bringing up more AHL performers and working through some growing pains. I’m all for seeing what Pelletier can do.
Little known fact… this helmet was the inspiration for the crocs shoes.
A Croc (still worn on the feet) likely provides more protection.
Flames rolling offensively. That said there are still critical parts of the game where Markstrom is making some very good and sometimes very sneaky good saves...where you wouldn't fault him if they went in, but they don't. And instead of a 1 goal lead, the Flames maintains 2 goal lead and changes the dynamics where the other team still has to push and keep themselves a bit more exposed at the back, while the Flames can counter.
The games the Flames lose, they seem not to get that great save or that sneaky shot goes against in as opposed to hitting a leg or stick at that critical point, and the game changes. But overall the Flames aren't doing it by smoke and mirrors, and Sutter won't let them rest on this like the team did under Peters in the WC winning season in the second half.
Nah man you and your ilk are #### fans. The team is playing great. Your commentary is uneeded. Just because you can't perform in anything doesn't make it ok for you to bring that #### on others.
Seems to me your just butthurt cause I called him out. Not my fault you are a fan. The team is playing great, but he's a passenger. Not the first time I called him out either, been saying it for 2 years now.
And the f does the bolded part even mean. Do you even know me or what I do?

I am enjoying the games but still calling spade a spade. Wasn't even noticeable today.
Buddy of mine had a skating instructor out for their minor hockey team the other day.
Not sure if it was Danielle Fujita herself or someone that knows her well enough to know the story, but it was interesting.
Monahan's hip surgery was successful, but when he hit the ice after recovering he couldn't skate the way he's skated since he was a little kid. His stride (never blazing) but good enough to make him a productive NHL hockey player was gone.
From August through camp he was working on developing a new stride, something this person said would take the whole season at least to develop.
Sort of explains why he wasn't getting into preseason games, and might explain the sheltered role he's played in the bottom half of the season.
This doesn't change the fact that he's over paid for what he brings to the table, but maybe cut the guy a bit of a break. That's a tough road to travel.

^That's some good insight. Monahan is a text book case of a player undergoing crucial surgery and coming out it as a different player. Sometimes injuries take their toll, which sucks when it's a young player in the midst of their prime.
It's frustrating for fans to see him a shell of his former self. But I'm sure it's infinitely more frustrating for him. Thankfully the rest of the team has picked up the slack. To his credit he hasn't complained once his entire tenure here. He's accepted any role given to him. He's clearly bought in to what Sutter is selling. Hard to fault a guy's decline when injuries are very clearly the reason.
