Both goals are bad bounces for Markstrom...the Tanev goal was the only actual bad goal this game. Raz is lucky Mike Smith isn't his goalie

Remember at the start of the season when everyone was talking about how you need two goalies going because of the condensed schedule?
...and then the Flames did that to Markstrom. Just idiocy.

Gaudreau and Monahan looking listless. I am honestly tired of seeing Johnny creating nothing the last two weeks.

He created a great chance for Monahan in the first. Gaudreau always creates chances - they don't always get coverted but he relentlessly creates chances.

I dont see how you can blame Markstrom when he has AHL quality D in front of him at the moment other then Tanev and Hanifin.

Friedman saying he likes the Flames' chances of being able to climb back up the standings with Sutter behind the bench. I hope he's right.

Pretty rare that you get out-chanced 13-1 and come out with a lead. Gotta be much better the rest of the way or this is gonna be another 7-3 laugher.

Rittich has a 0.885 SP and a 4.00 GAA in his last four starts.

this d core likes to really back in, Andersson pretty much backed into the crease, slight exageration.

That line is an absolute tire fire

It's time to put Johnny together with Lindy and one of either Dube or Mangi.
I'm tired of seeing the Johnny-Mony combo be productive only one out of every 3 games.

3 goals on 7 shots is great.
Getting out-attempted 22-9, out-shot 11-5, out-chanced 13-1 and out-high danger chanced 7-0 at 5v5 is a bad recipe for success and the complete opposite of Darryl Sutter hockey.
If you think Sutter is happy with that period, I don't know what to say.
That was by far the worst period the Flames have played under Sutter so we should be grateful that they came out of it up 3-2, but they're not going to win the game playing the same way for the final 40.

Markstrom had an awful night against the Oilers...why not play Rittich tonight? Surprised by the decision.

Darryl rode Kipper when he coached last...expect the same with JM.

Don’t know what you’re watching, but calling the D AHL quality is grossly hyperbolic.

Probably the same reason he put Kipper right back in after a tough game. To give him a chance right away to make up for it. I also think he tells him too that he has confidence in him and doesn't blame him.

I wouldn’t describe the decision to start your starter, one of the top goalies in the league for years, over your backup as “baffling”.
Get back out there and back at it. It’s his job.

It's not "idiocy." Markstrom started 17 games in the first 34 days, and never played back-to-back. Meanwhile, Rittich looked awful in his two starts. It is no wonder at all why Markstrom played most of the games through mid-February.
