I am just impressed that Byron Ritchie, a 43 year old drafted by the Hartford Whalers in 1995, played so capability on the first line.

The “top 5” forwards had the most ice time , up front.

And let's be clear, here: my responses have been directed specifically to those who appear to believe that Sutter solves all of the teams problems. I am ecstatic with the hire, and happy with the win, but will continue to regard these juniour-high-level "told you so" retorts as exceptionally premature.

So, you can spare me your sanctimonious "think before you predict" advice.

I mean, it would be kind of be your style to ridicule those who were pining for something you had deemed an impossibility.

IMO it's too early for I told you so, but it's also the wrong time to bring up skepticism over the core and their mental toughness, ability to win when it counts, etc. These are the exact things Sutter was brought in to improve.

Let's see if he can get it done. I'll say it again, there is absolutely nothing to be afraid of in this division. Other than the current standings unfortunately, but seems there's enough time to deal with that.

That is two beatdowns of some last place teams. And we lost one of them actually.

interesting to note, even despite these last two games, Ducharme's Habs have been one of the best possession teams in the league:

I don't mean to. And I am completely convinced that if there is only one coach can get this group over that hump, it is Sutter.

And yeah, with how they played the last two games this team should be scaring the hell out of every one else in Canada.

Some of those among us are seemingly anhedonic #######s. Enjoy the change and get swept up in the Sutter mania. Shared delusion helps everyone believe, and we actually need this team to believe in itself more than ever.

Which honestly, I think they should!

Why are kicked in goals not allowed in the first place? I get its originally most likely for safety reasons; you don't want skate blades flailing all over the place. But if they blade stays on the ice, and it's a sideways motion, I think they should count those goals.

It's a great play anywhere else on the ice when the players are athletic enough to control the puck with skates, so why not allow it when it results in a goal?

That was a fun game to watch. It's enjoyable to be on the other side of a game where it seems like a big accomplishment for one team to just break the puck over their own blue line and dump the puck in for a change. How many times did we see the Habs do that tonight?

Then, even when they picked up their game, the Flames were backchecking so hard and making Markstrom's life pretty easy.

I remain very excited about the rest of this season. Montreal and Edmonton are the targets for sure to get in the playoffs, so the next 2 games are almost as important as these ones (these 2 regulation wins were just huge... 2 points back vs 10 is a world of difference).

-Kylington played well and I think he'll stick this time.
-Mangiapane is so good. That assist was a great effort and it was good for my personal stress level to have a 2 goal lead through the 3rd
-congrats to Monahan on 200 and 201. Both hard working goals and a lot of good work elsewhere on the ice too
-great save by Markstrom and good play by Tanev to disrupt Tatar

I don’t like pucks kicked in just like I don’t like lacrosse style goals.

Gets at the integrity of the game.

In soccer, you can never score with your hands, because it is easier.
In hockey, you can never score with your feet, isn't it a lot tougher?

Just finished the game via pvr. Woot woot!

Puck frigin pressure! How refreshing is to see a forecheck creating pressure and mistakes!

Flames looked better tonight vs the fresh habs compared to the last last game.

So exciting to see. This team might not have the star power as others in the division but they have a deeper level of skill at all positions. Nice to see what a nhl calibre head coach can accomplish.

Also, I thought kylington looked solid in the early part of the game.

It's only been two games and both against a struggling Montreal team but we look more confident breaking out of our zone which I hope continues.

Mangiapane is such a good player, one of my fav picks in recent years! Can move, has hands and some pretty great swagger for such a small guy that's pretty new to the league. Likely my next jersey purchase haha
