He’s used to having Lindholm last year and Ferland, who knew where to be to get decent scoring chances and willing to pay the price in those areas to get the chances, where thst isn’t Backlund game by a mile. Again, chemistry and comfort for JG isn’t there with Backlund, and after 6 weeks of this, it’s a feeling that’s probably not going to change.

but also he looked terrible to start the season with lindholm on his line as well which was the whole reason they were split up in the first place.
Reminder that Gaudreau was playing on the 3rd line for awhile and was also terrible there as well.
he's been garbage all year

Oh this PP is pathetic.
Maybe we would feel better if we knew other teams routinely miss opportunities as much as the Flames seem to.

Monahan should not be playing with Gaudreau. Sean is trying to better himself and become a 200ft player, and should be playing with Tkachuk to take advantage of that style of play.
Johnny should be playing with Lindholm, who is already a complete player and can take advantage of Gaudreau as he exists right now. Johnny isn't going to change his style of play, so he should be paired with someone who doesn't need him as a line driver.

That could possibly be a result of him being as poor this season as he was good last season.

I agree the line doesn’t work
But Johnny’s poor play dates back a full year now and got worse to start this season
It isn’t a backlund issue alone

Absolutely brutal effort by one line all game. I wonder what the record is for the least number of shots in a shutout!

I'm still of the opinion that he's going through some kind of off ice issue. No way does a player as talented and dynamic as him just drop off a cliff after one summer.

Because that deal is one of the reasons he has value
The closer it gets to ending the less value that creates
