Preferred the coat of arms. Apparently they were losing money because it's public domain.

That's exactly the reason for the change. Fans hate it though.
About the Hayton incident: It was disrespectful, but these things happen in U20 tournaments, it's nothing new. Bunch of young kids driven by emotions, they will learn from it. Remember when young Swedes threw away silver medals? Or when Russians skated off the ice before the anthem was even played? I mean, those Russian kids were not responsible for any of this, but Russians in general complaining about sportsmanship is just ridiculous.
About the Group B: It's a group of death. Canada, USA and Russia, followed by Czech Republic with home ice advantage and Germany with maybe the best generation they ever had in this category. Anyone can beat anyone in the best of one group stage. Compare it to the other group with Slovakia and Kazakhstan.
About Anthems and staying on the ice: I would prefer if anthems were played only before the game at international tournamets. It would help these kids to get into the right mindset, reminding them they are representing their country. After the game, let them just shake hands and skate off. The winning team will thank their fans after, and that's it. No reason to stay at the blue line with your head down listening to an anthem of some other country. It doesn't make any sense really.

How are the groups selected? If it’s a draw we got unlucky to draw into B. Maybe they want Canada and the U.S. together.

It's based on the previous year's tournament's final standings.
Group A is the previous year's 1, 4, 5, 8, and 9th ranked teams.
Group B is the previous year's 2, 3, 6, 7, and 10th ranked teams (where the 10th ranked team is actually the team that was promoted from the lower division as the actual 10th ranked team is demoted).
I'm not sure why they do it that way rather than a straight 1, 3, 5, 7, 9 in one group and 2, 4, 6, 8, 10 in the other, but I'm sure someone thinks it keeps the groups more balanced.
Most years, the top six are the big six hockey countries (in no particular order), Canada, the USA, Sweden, Finland, Russia, and the Czech Republic. They then get divided into the two groups with 3 in each.
Last year, Switzerland beat Sweden in the quarterfinals and ended up finishing 4th. That messed up the usual distribution and ended up creating the killer Group B this year.

The group of death isn’t too much of a killer when 4 of 5 teams advance. If anything, the other division is the loser in this as their winner and second place finisher play a strong team in the first elimination game.

A seven-minute review showed a goal for Canada to make it 3-0.
I thought it was inconclusive until the one shot of the puck up against the mesh behind the post

Canada had three power-play goals in last year’s tournament and four in that period.

Goals 14 seconds apart cut the Canadian lead in half.
Czechs making a move to comeback. Now 4-2.
EDIT: And now the Czech third stringer coughs it up and the Canadians get a tap in. 5-2.

czech challenge for offsides on that and lose the challenge, powerplay for canada
they could of just killed any momentum they got from those 2 quick goals within 10 seconds of it.
24 seconds for 3 goals, fastest in juniors history (previous was 26)

What the hell was Varada thinking with that challenge? Why double down on a bad break with stupidity?
