I would then say his apology is not sincere. If he felt it was wrong an apology would have been issued long before today.

I think for me it has to do with he was in a position of power. If he was another player, or support staff I think I would be more likely to give them a second chance.
You're in charge of kids and you do that, sorry but you're gone.

No one wants to kill Bill Peters (except, perhaps, for DMX).

Hopefully Bill Peters makes this argument in any future wrongful dismissal claim. That would be hilarious.

Nothing. This is why the Flames are investigating thoroughly before making a decision.

You don't even get one strike anymore.

For racist rhetoric and abuse of authority? One is too many.

Some mistakes are much bigger and more consequential than others.

This has absolutely nothing to do with the Flames an their decision moving forward with Bill Peters.

The fact he never came out and denied it right away and 3 people have corroborated the story tells me its true. If not he would have addressed the media already in my opinion. Were you looking for a tribunal or something? How else would they investigate this besides getting statements from others on the team. Three strikes on racism? So I guess everybody gets to drop the "N" word 3 times by that rationale while being in management position for a professional customer facing organization.

a. This is not a criminal trial.
b. Or baseball.
c. no one wants Peters killed.
d. Elections and private employment in a commercial exercise are different; Trudeau apologized and admitted and has demonstrably done a number of things policy-wise that suggest he isn't a racist; and technically, a party elected him leader and his riding elected him as an MP. "Canada" elected MPs from various parties.

I couldn't care less about the timing. Maybe he wants his 15 minutes, but as a fan of this franchise, I want to know if the coach is racist so that the bandaid can be ripped off.
The earlier #######s like Babcock and friends are called out, the better.

That is what he should do to own this disgusting behavior as a human being. And if he is genuinely repentant maybe he can earn the chance to work again in hockey some day.
The Flames can’t tolerate this in their head coaching position. Full stop.

Oftentimes I wonder what would happen if baseball had 4 strikes or 2. Would that change all the arbitrary chances people are supposed to get?

I wonder how ownership feels about the fact Treliving was so quick to hire him? There was not much of a coaching search done.

And in front of his entire team.
And he was the coach, a position of significant trust and authority over the career of a young hockey player.
Just a terrible situation for Aliu to find himself in.
