Our best players were not at their best and we still won. That's a huge positive. The top line and Tkchuck are not going to be dormant for long, but that's hockey, players have ups and downs. Super impressed by the depth players today, and Smith. The team is fine, great to get back in the win column.

This was supposed to be James Neal. I’m actually more disappointed that he hasn’t played with an edge than I am with his lack of production.

Who cares how they win? especially to help them get out of the post ASG and bye week funk! They won, enjoy it, who cares about the details. 2 points is 2 points. Big 2 points today. And Smith's looking much different. Which makes me wonder if it's the old Ali Rope a dope. I.E holding the horse back until the final stretch and then letting it loose.
Who knows, but it'll be fascinating to see how this unfolds. Because if we get MVP Smith from games 1-50 of last year, we're all of a sudden looking real good. #fingers crossed.

You usually win when your team scores 5 goals.

Can we have 2 PGT threads after a win? One with happy gifs and positivity, and another one like this one?

It started with that masterpiece by Mangiapane.
It ended with Bennett. If Pittsburgh doesn’t get a stick on Ryan’s pass, Bennett had overskated it. That was the GWG.
Not to mention the lucky bounces on the other 3.
Murray wasn’t in position and beaten cleanly by any shots, was he?
This game was a ‘start the car’ special for sure.
Glad for the win, but find it’s really weird what other peoples’ take home was.

I just re-watched the third period and agree the long road trip definitely was taking a toll. We were not winning many races.

Great game, you could see the desire. Happy to see Eatbread and Czarnik get rewarded as well as Benny. Glad Smith got the W. Well deserved!

They were decent to great 5 on 5. I really think the entire Pens game was built on their powerplay time, where the Flames uncharacteristically retreated into a shell, giving the Pens top guys all sorts of space and time rather than challenging like they normally do.
Strange game. If there was only 1 or 2 penalties against like there would've been with a higher standard on the calls, the game probably would've largely been controlled by the Flames and a multi-goal win. Alas, the Pens got an extra couple calls for being behind and took full advantage.

Take the W, be happy, unclench the butt cheeks and sip on a cold beverage. All's chill. The boys busted their skid in a hard game against a very fast, cohesive, tight team. And their 5-on-5 play was pretty stellar. Enjoy.
|
Yeah. I really enjoyed the game, and the win. Awesome.
Puck luck was the bounces on pretty much every goal that went their way. You know, the parts involving the puck and the luck.
You know what, the hook on Aston Reese was as much of a penalty as Bennett’s stick on Malkin’s hands. No tantrums about the refs required if you are enjoying the game.
So if I can get this straight
- admitting that luck was on the Flames side translates to clenched butt cheeks
- griping about the refs in a game that was just won isn’t.
Is that right?

Then ignore such posts if you don't like them. Don't call people out every time you disagree with them. Otherwise you are just feeding the arguments.
Everyone should have the same right to post their thoughts, this is what the forum is here. And there isn't that much negativity here, it was a rough game by some standards and some people have pointed it out.
Almost seems like you can't question any player's games anymore. I agree that Smith is taking too much heat lately, but even then, there is room for both sides of the story. And we barely have any Smith talk in this thread. So what is the problem here? I thought the guys stole the game and I am Mr. Negativity here?
As a mod you should set an example, instead you are one of the most pretentious posters here.

Flames beat Pens! End Losing Streak!
Andersson and Kylington were very good this game as well, both looked very calm with the puck and made smart plays all game. Both got an assist as well. Great to see.
Having two young puck moving Dmen to round out the bottom pairing really is a luxury this team hasn’t had in decades lol

Why? 5 goals, tons of puck luck. Smith was solid, did what it took to win, but didn’t steal the game.
Bad week ? Because I made a case why I believed Rittich was good despite letting in 6, and didn’t think Smith was awesome letting in 4?
