“Sometimes it just goes your way, but I think we did a good job on the power play, found some goals to get us back in there in the second,” said Gaudreau, who praised Brodie for making a great move to set him up for the winning goal late in the second period. “He did his magic. He walked the defenseman and sent it to me backdoor for a wide open tap-in. It’s a great play by him. Great vision.” Reuters.com

Good win, Flames dominated from middle of the 2nd onwards.

Johnny and Brodie with the accolades tonight, and well deserved. I think the unsung guy was Hamonic. Guy was steady on the back end, which allowed Brodie to jump up into the play a lot more.

Man that was a fun game. Jagr didn't even play and he still stole the show!

Gaudreau and Brodie were freakin' fantastic!

Smith looked solid, tough to pin any of the goals on him.

Where was that Lazar in the pre-season? More of that please.

Really liked the line changes Gully made. Thought that seemed to shake the team up a bit. I think this team has the potential to surprise a lot of people this year.

We're winning the next game in Anaheim. It's going to happen.

I was sad when it was 3-1 Jets. But as I got drunker , the Flames started playing better.

Great game!

The Winnipeg Jets are a terrible hockey team. They may be the worst team in the NHL.

What a game! I can't wait to see how good this team can be if they play 60 minutes with Jagr.

Also nice to see the home opener losing streak ended. It's time to end another streak in Anaheim!

Even the bar I was watching the game at did the same thing. Couple dudes even took their hats off.

A real shame it takes a horrible tragedy like that to bring us all together. But it was really cool to see.

Reading through the thread and all the suggested line combinations really points out how deep this roster is. There are so many combinations that look good and so many players that are interchangeable, it's an embarrassment of riches. I almost don't even want to trade Brouwer but instead have him, Stajan and Hathaway as a revolving door of which one plays on any given night and as injury reserves. Then bring up Jankowski as a lock until proven otherwise.

If they can get it together like tonight, and hold it together, this team should be a force. I don't know if there's another team in the league as deep throughout all 4 lines and even 2 extra forwards. It really shouldn't matter that we would have $7 mil sitting out if Stajan and Brouwer are scratched, it all fits under the cap for the year so might as well ice the best team we can each night.

Seemed like every other player on the team was working to get Brodie the hat trick nearing the end of the game, looked like Gaudreau had a couple of good opportunities for himself but did what he could to set up TJ. Hopefully that is
a sign of some good team chemistry starting to gel and they will start to stand up and take charge together.

Happy the Flames turned the game around in the 2nd period and took over.

It's great to see Johnny and Brodie play to their potential -- when your best players are better than the opposition's best, you usually win.

I live on the east coast, so I went to bed after the first when it was 3-1. I woke up to a 6-3 win.

That means, in the four periods of hockey I've watched so far this year the Flames have been outscored 6-1. In the two periods I haven't watched, they've outscored their opponents 5-0. I think I know what I have to do.

I remember saying that Lazar needs to play in the top 6. Hes better suited to play there and Ferland is better suited to play in the bottom 6.

I love how Bennett showed some moves like Jagr.

Glass has admittedly not been that bad but I still think I liked what I saw from hathaway last game and feel like he could do everything that Glass does but is younger, faster, better etc.

Can’t imagine the motor this team would play with if we could just switch out the 4th line

Gaudreau - Bennett - Jagr
Versteeg - Monahan - Ferland
Tkachuk - Backlund - Frolik
Hathaway - Jankowski - Lazar

Stajan, Brouwer, Glass

That 4th line has as much ability to put pucks in the net as anyone and can also crash and bang if required like most 4th lines. Make the room happen Brad.
