Optional, yes, meaning you can skate and practice. Optional doesn't mean only your fourth liners and your healthy scratch from last game show up.
When you play as bad as you do as a team as they did yesterday, the leaders should be on the ice first and lead their team. That's what good leaders do. When you can't complete a pass, maybe practicing is a good idea? When you are continually having giveaways (Giordano, Gaudreau, Brodie) some time on the ice isn't a bad thing.
Let's keep making excuses for our players though because it can't be them. We should fire another coach, that always seems to work out.

Notice how it's always the "buds" on the team looking like crap on the same night?
I guess Backlund, Frolik, Tkachuk missed the invites. They must not be following Gulutzan's plan to not skate, be crappy defensively and not back check.
Bouma at least looks to be turning the corner and actually going back to what made him successful in the first place. Hopefully the others follow up soon.

I never said a single thing about drinking. Don't put words in my mouth.

Monahan has been playing great, Gaudreau hasn't. So?

Ha ha ha. You are a piece of work. I suppose partying (you did use that word) to you is staying up late, playing Monopoly, and sipping on Mountain Dew.

One thing I have noticed Calgaryblood is that you always have an excuse. Either the refs are screwing the Flames, the Starplayers party before games, or the coach is stupid. Have you concidered that the Flames might not be good enough to be competitive every game?

Monahan has been playing great for 4 games and was invisible in the 10 before that.
He's as inconsistent as they come. I never said he's been awful all year.

And great for a stretch before those ten games with and without Gaudreau. So?

I party and don't drink and don't play monopoly while I sip on Mountain Dew.
I know it's hard to imagine for some people but it's totally normal to go out and party and not drink. Not everyone is an alcoholic.

Not seeing your point. You think I'm saying they party every single night and they look bad every single game? They have their stretches and it hasn't been good enough this year.

It's clear you're implying they're out drinking when you say "partying". It's not reasonable to think you're trying to say they're staying up late in custom star wars onesie jammies and watching TBS reruns of Shawshank.
Regardless of that you're selling unverified rumours and it's embarrassing to read. Maybe stick to on ice play.

I definitely don't enjoy calgaryblood's constant negativity but for what it's worth, there are rumours out there surrounding some of Johnny Hockey's extra curricular activities.
I don't think you can just take all players that are struggling though and paint them with the same brush.

So the issue isn't that they are "partying" in the traditional sense and that it's more sleep deprivation from staying up late for group movie watching or dancing at bars while sipping on non-alcoholic beverages?

It's not clear at all. Like I said before, not everyone drinks at bars. Not everyone HAS to have a drink to have fun.
Maybe you do, but don't assume what I meant by "partying". If I wanted to say they were out drinking and getting drunk I would have typed out those words.
"Unverified rumours" do you know why they were healthy scratched for last season? That's as verifiable as they come.

I recall seeing pictures at HF of Oilers like Hall, RNH, Eberle at local bars getting there faster than fans after games. Young men with lots of money and popularity are no different than you and I at this age so this isn't exactly a Flames specific issue. It happens in all sports. There's been plenty of rumors of several star players on the Flames and their extra curricular activities going back to the 80's.

And the leadership on this team is just great hey? They lay an egg against the team that's on their tail in a playoff race and have a game against a team they're chasing tomorrow and not a single leader shows up. Not a single person with a letter shows up to practice the next day and our top players struggling would rather sleep in.
You'd rather blame Gulutzan though for them not being able to pass the puck, playing with no emotion, sleep walking through games.
It just couldn't be the players aren't doing enough to prepare themselves right?
|
You do know whether it is optional or not they are ALL at the rink anyway.

I know that and I'm not saying it's unique to the Flames or our precious Johnny Hockey. All I'm saying is based on what I've heard maybe it's not helping his game.

Maybe but none of us really have a clue about the truth and what's that got to do with Monahan?

what has happened to Johnny "Pedestrian" hockey? He didn't even look like he belonged in the league outside of his one entry there.
