Lifetime Suspension

Larsson is a decent young D-man, though a little offensively challenged which is what Oil fans seem up in arms about.
The big part a lot of people are missing is by trading Hall for a young, developing d-man and not an established one (lol)... they are going to throw this young kid into that tire fire and he'll be ruined.
This. fixes. nothing.

This trade shows what we've all been saying for a long time. The price on good young defenseman is extremely high right now.
Also this just puts the value of Eberle and RNH at not getting anything great.
I would expect that the Oilers expect to get Lucic and Demers .

Larsson was pretty much the #1 in Jersey late last year.
He's a very good young d-man. Not dominant by any means, but he had an outstanding year last year.

Wow. I wanted Hall to retire an Oiler but this is sweet.
Who outside of Edmonton didn't see something like this coming though? Their golden boys are not worth much to other teams.
RIP Larsson's career though. He's never been flashy, or offensively gifted, but he's solid.

4.1 mil through 2023 is good value for this kid. He is 23 years old. I think Edmonton did just fine with this trade. I've never been high on Taylor Hall. I imagine there wasn't much out there for Hall. Plus, dumping his salary and bring in a good dman for 2 mil less screams they're not done yet.

Unless Larsson suddenly develops even a modest offensive game in the next year or two, I'd say this is easily the worst trade in the cap era.
