Ya I like that.
Or maybe each team can submit three players that are vote eligible.

This is funny. I hope he goes.
And didn't Jagr say he wasn't going? Said he's too old and doesn't want to play 3 on 3 or something.

Really no one should care. It's the All Star game. It's a total joke.

Secondly the league should only allow actual "Star" players to be nominated to stop this shenanigans as I think it tarnishes the reputation of the league.

The all star game selections tarnish the reputation of the league? Hate to break it to you but the all star game isn't about skill it's about the fans and players having fun.
I think you're taking the All Star game a little too seriously ain't nobody judging the NHL on their crappy All-Star game year after year.

People will always care because all-star games should consist of the best of the best. The NHL was dumb to let people vote for whoever they want. They should have provided a select list of players to vote from. They'll learn from this experience.

It's a joke because players like Scott get voted in. Back in the day players we're proud to be nominated and to participate in the All Star game. Now, they could care less because the fans continue to vote in guys like Scott and think it's funny yet fail to see it tarnishes the reputation of the game. The All Star game in every league is to showcase the best players the league has to offer and this year we get to see John Scott. Yay.

It was a joke long before players like John Scott got in. It's a fan driven exhibition game. "Tarnishes the reputation of the game" ??? ... jesus, you're taking it way too seriously.

If the game was in Calgary and I had to pay to see John Scott play, I'd be pissed. Joke or not, I'd wanna spend my money on entertainment worthy of my money. I'm not taking it too seriously at all...just think it's pretty dumb.

Yup.
Even if I hadn't, I wouldn't be sitting here moaning and crying about John Scott making it into an utterly irrelevant exhibition contest.
Some of you guys are taking this entirely too seriously.

The purpose of the All Star Game from the league's perspective is to sell advertising space and generate interest in non-traditional markets or among casual fans.
Anything that creates a "story" is a good thing as far as the league is concerned. That is why people voting for Scott and thinking that they are making some kind of point are being misguided. All it does is show that people are interested and that interest is creating a story to follow. I am sure the league loves every minute of it.

This isn't trolling the NHL. It's trolling one player who probably should be there.

Stupid, Mickey Mouse stuff by the NHL here. If Scott has a shred of dignity he won't play.

Its funny because people are saying the all star game doesn't matter and that they don't like it but instead if just ignoring it, they try to ruin it for the people that do like it. It's the "I don't like it so no one can like it" attitude that's going to take away fan voting.
I get people want to fit in so I guess they make a mockery of things to try and be cool. If I like something, I pay attention and if I don't like it I'll ignore it so the people who do like it can enjoy it. I guess some people just don't have common courtesy.

I'm sure teams would absolutely hate this suggestion. Having to publicly choose the 3 players you view as most deserving for the small chance of being voted in by the fans...then potentially upsetting all those you don't choose. Imagine choosing last year with Johnny, Monahan, Hudler, Giordano, and Brodie all having amazing years.

What are the odds we see Brodie in this game as well? Haven't really seen any discussion about it
