How many teams have star 3rd liners? They both will block shots and lay out a hit if needed, yeah they get hemmed in their own zone sometimes but what 3rd liners don't? At least they are defensively smart and don't get caught way out of position and rarely make boneheaded passes.

Sorry, but that blog post is irritating.

While Tanner indeed lauds the Flames for their success, he is STILL stuck in this obnoxious, short-sighted mentality that the team is just a collection of lunch-bucket, stone-handed oafs who succeed on hard work and great goaltending. God, when are outsiders finally going to realise that the Flames are winning because they work hard, and also have a solid collection of skilled players with the capacity to consistently translate hard work into success?

Hard work only gets a team so far. This team goes farther because they can play.
