Agreed. Some just requires more cream and sugar than others. Great coffee I drink black, at home I have 1/1, Tims or McDonalds double double, anywhere else it varies.

7/11 coffee makes me incredibly sick incredibly fast so I'll assert that not all coffee is good coffee

Will be interesting to see what the expansion plans become now. Lots of Burger Kings in the UK for instance but no Tim Hortons. Interestingly there are lots of Tim Hortons in the UAE--just a few weeks ago I enjoyed an Iced Capp and a Maple Dip at Dubai Mall. In fact there was a building in Dubai that had a big Tim Horton's ad down its side that was probably the size of the Chinook Centre tower.

The point isn't a coffee elitism thing like "Such and such has a better $8 cup of coffee." It is the fact that you can get 10 X better coffee for the same price. If you double double any coffee with pure fat, it all tastes the same. Tim's coffee black, is revolting.
|
No, 7-11 doesn't. I will drink a Tim's if there is no Second Cup around but I refuse to drink 7-11 coffee.

This guy just thinks he is better than everyone else. His CFL rants make his opinion of zero value IMHO. So over the top on that and in here he can't really be taken seriously.
I mean really, who would eat at a place if they actually thought it was the worst slop around? I wouldn't, that would just be silly.

Deal is agreed upon by the boards, but not official until SH's have voted in favour, so it's not 'done'.
With that said, given the premium they are offering and the reputation of 3G for adding SH value, I can't see how this doesn't pass.
Tim's Execs are going to drop faster than Pylon after drinking an XL black Timmies.

Is 3G buying the CFL too? How did the CFL get dragged into this?
The CFL is like CP's very own 'Godwin Effect.'

I agree, however, I could definitely tell the difference between A&W's coffee from the rest of the brands, it's worse than terrible.

Even mediocre/bad coffees are not half bad if consumed fresh from being brewed and the best coffees can taste like crap after being on heat for 20-30 minutes. I can smell a Tim's coffee and instantly know if it's too old.

People crapping on baristas in Calgary should understand that atmospheric conditions really impact how their machines work, so running one of those things in this city, where the ambient pressure can fluctuate a huge amount in a day, will make achieving consistency an impossible task.
Also, not all coffee is equal. The processes used to roast, store and transport beans impact flavour, yes, but they can also create unfavorable mold and fungal growth which can mess with your gut biology and autoimmune response (like many other foods).

One thing I know from my time working at Tim Hortons as a kid was that they do actually follow their 20 minute limit really well. I dumped many full pots.

Then you worked at a well run Tim's. There are some that have little to no standards. The Tim's at Northland Mall is the worst maybe in Alberta, bought 3 coffees there. They don't even change out the coffee filters, just dump whatever grinds they feel like on top of what's in the filter. Not all Tim's are equal, the Tim's by the law building at the UofC always has good coffee and doesn't even taste like most of them.
Who knows what this BK deal will bring. I'd love it if they charged 20 cents more per cup and put more effort into the process.

Why even post if you're going to say things that are completely useless? Coffee isn't coffee if people put cream and sugar in it? What is it then? Coffee with cream and sugar? Any other epiphanies to share? Is my tea no longer tea if I put some lemon and honey in it?

Kinda funny the way Euros "go for coffee". They don't even sit down, because it's the size of 1-2 shots. You take about 3 sips, have a little 5 minute chat, and you and your friend part ways. It's kind of awesome in a way. Maybe one reason they don't do the big ass cup of coffee is because they don't commute for 30-60 minutes in their cars every morning.

I worked at Tim's for a couple of weeks back in high school and I can also confirm the 20-minute limit. They were super strict about it. You had to write the time brewed on the pot and dump it when the allotted time passed.
