The cut doesn't look like it is bleeding, maybe it isn't as deep as it looks.

I find what's most comforting in times like these is rampant speculation.

Yes how dare modern psychology provide a scientific explanation for why bad things happen - things were just easier when we could write off the bad guys as "evil."

This is senseless. I never attended U of C but living in the NW, this hit close to home. My condolences to the victims' families.

Press conference with Police chief...

Suspect was invited, is the son of a 33 year police officer, four of the victims from Calgary, one from Priddis. Oldest victim 27, youngest 21 (I think).

"Can't say the exact 'why'".... We don't have any reason to believe he was insulted or some event that precipitated the event... He left work to come to the party... Doesn't look like booze or drugs were involved but not sure... he brought a weapon, but did it with a weapon he found in the house... none of the people have any kind of history with the police, accused or victims...

At its peak there were 30 people at the party, about 20 when this happened.

Victims were targeted "one by one"... so apparently not a wild melee (which is me speculating, but that's what they said).

As to bruises/marks, Police chief says he had to be subdued, so perhaps not just by the dog but by the cops as well.

First degree murder charges is what they're seeking? Does this indicate that they think it was planned?

Interesting. Looks like this incident might be premeditated, and wasn't fueled by alcohol.

@KyleBakx Nothing to indicate the suspect was impaired. He had left work to attend party.
@KyleBakx Suspect did bring a weapon to the party, but used a large knife from inside the house. Neither victims or suspect are known to police.

But does it really matter? What if his dad was a 7-11 clerk?

His dad wasn't the one who killed 5 people, it shouldn't really matter what his profession is.

Sounds like they were all good kids...absolutely senseless.

All victims are in my age range, hoping that nobody I know was involved but there are many friends from U of C that I haven't yet heard from.

They are looking at 1st degree murder charge... wow. Not fueled by a drunken rage by the sounds of it.

Wow, if it was targeted and pretty much hunted them one-by-one. . . That's even more chilling.

Judging by the ages, sounds like an "older" U of C crowd- 4th year/grad student sort of ages??

But for the facial brusing,

Regardless, I feel for the first responders as well. A sight they will never forget.

Sounds premeditated. Obviously there must have been an incident that triggered this that hasn't been disclosed causing him to seek out individuals. Pretty tragic that any incident could cause a man to do such a thing.
