Looking at the picture of the suspect, he has a gash on the side of stomach . . Wonder if there are multiple knives used in the incident? He's pretty roughed up too, this seems like there may have been a fight going on with weapons.

Have names been released as far as victims go? I didn't go to BSD as I had a drs appointment in Banff and then decided to head to Ponoka for a barrel race after.
Even if U of C somehow manages to get rid of BSD next year, it won't do much. House parties, parties off campus will still go on.

I would hope next year there is some kind of memorial instead of BSD.

He was also bit by the K9. Hard to speculate based on the one pic.

Make a memorial and concert - raise money for charities that support victims of violent crime/mental health.

Yeah I knew about the police dog . . . But how does that explain the huge bruise on his forehead? He looks pretty roughed up for getting attacked by a dog. Don't dogs usually clamp onto a limb/digit and not let go? It would at least slow him down and then the cops do a take down.

If he was trying to run from the dog it could have knocked him down and caused him to his head

I could see it being a situation where a fight broke out and he wasn't fairing too well, grabbed a knife and started swinging but I seriously doubt you kill 5 people with a knife without the intent of killing each of them. I mean its a knife. You start swinging wildly in defense you probably hurt a lot of people but stabbing them deep enough to kill? That to me seems like it would require you to target them specifically.

First thing i noticed was he looked beat up pretty good...but 5 people? You really need to do a number or hit the right spots to kill 5 people for it to be a "at the moment" or "heat of the moment" scenario if he was defending himself.

Debating posting this, but w/e.
First letter of the suspect's name is M. I had some interaction with him. Nice, quiet guy and this seemed totally out of character.

I don't think you can really bring up a self defense argument when you kill 5 people with a knife.

He was either defending himself from five people (unlikely since it shouldn't result in all five dying), or he stabbed then each when they were unable to defend themselves.
He could have been on a hallucinogen as well.

I don't know why the papers are reporting that he may be the son of a senior CPS member. Are members of the CPS exempt from having childeren who are stupid or crazy?

Or he could have had mental issues no one knew about.
Or he could have been bullied and just snapped.
There are a lot of scenario's that it could be.

Son of a cop? Case will probably get brushed under the rug and in a few years he'll be sentenced to community service.

I don't think the cuts on his side are from the dog...They look too precise. Wouldn't a dog bite be more of a puncture wound?
Could it have been from self defense? If I was being jumped by a schwack of people and I was by myself, maybe I would grab a knife and start swinging. But I don't know if I would be going for jugulars?
I've been violent after drinking to excess when I was younger (I punched 2 guys after drinking a 26-er of Southern Comfort in one night) But I would never grab a weapon of some sort. I knew, even in my drunken stupor, that I wasn't going to kill someone with my fists.
