Sure is taking his time with this train wreck.
What are you hoping happens with a coaching change? They lose better? Good luck convincing the owners to pay two head coaching salaries for a team that has no hope of going anywhere.

this is turrible, but there is no reason for Burke to act now, best deals will be made around the deadline

I'm sure its still fairly common practice to have 2 on the same line . at least in the west coast.

I'm probably one of McGrattan's biggest fans, but I agree with most of what moon is saying. He rarely does a thing in the defensive zone except cover nobody and wait for the breakout pass that almost never comes

He may have straightline speed but in his own zone he does not skate well enough to recover when out of position.

I am watching this game on TV and the last two times McGrattan was out Ian Cole was wide open while McGrattan was out of position doing nothing.

I don't think he can play a full shift at all. He is clueless in his own zone and not good enough with the puck to get it out.

I think nowadays enforcers are turning into the 6-6'2 210-220 guys that can play 10 minutes. There is only a handful of guys in the league willing to fight McGrattan so most games before they even start McGrattan is basically neutralized by that.

Edit: Also want to add that I am not angry at McGrattan. I think he is giving it his all out there and likely willing to fight more than he does but I think his role is getting phased out and filled by a different kind/size of player.

He still seems like a good guy, hard worker and I love to watch it when he does fight.

When your two most skilled offensive players are 5'9 or shorter, it should be easy to shut your team down and it turns out it is.

The Flames just don't have the makeup to be a consistent offensive threat, doesn't matter if Scotty Bowman or Mike Babcock was coaching these stiffs.

Atta be, Stajan. Drop your stick, grab ahold with both hands, and ride that bull!

Anyone else see that and say

I know where your coming from we just have to hope for some trade and call ups because the veterans have given up same as last year before the trade deadline. We got to have faith in Bruke he is good at traiding vets! Buffalo left us the best candidates because they wanted someone in for the trade deadline too so it left us Futa and Benning!Just trying to point out some positives because its the only thing we have at this point. Not too many weeks before the olympics though thank god! Prospects are looking good this year too and can only get better if we get any of the gm's have been hearing about.

Yeah I have to agree that McGrattan is not a full time NHLer. He'd be fine to keep on the roster and play every few games when we're facing a team with a bunch of goons, but it doesn't make sense to suit him up versus this type of opposition.

If people are blaming the coaches for losing based on their system , Abbotsdord plays the same system. I think that speaks more about the players then coaches. Yes I know different leagues will be argued but if you don't have the players nothing will work.

I am a little confused how come when Roger asked an opposing player a question he doesn't start with "you have to be impressed with how awesome the Flames are"?

That's how Gene starts every interview when he does it.

Exactly.. we have two guys who can probably beat up anybody on the Blues, but no one on the Blues is going to fight them. I suppose Reaves might try it... but why bother. The Blues are better off with them on the ice.

A few really good chances created, mainly by Hudler and Monahan, but those 3-4 times have been isolated and about 95% of the time they look like a team going through the motions waiting for the season to end.
