I turned down tickets for this one. Not because I don't want to support them, I do, but I have a big day tomorrow and didn't want to be depressed. Luckily with so many corporate tickets I don't think the Flames have to worry about attendance for quite a while anyway

Hartley is responsible for the system that every other coach has effectively shutdown since december. He doesn't know how to generate offence, it's evident his system doesn't work.

Once the new GM is here he is likely gone.
All firing him now is put a guy like Gelinas or Cloutier in charge for the last ~40 games with likely no change at all.
Perhaps that is one smart thing that Hartley has done is have no real option to step in for him on his staff. Gelinas is awesome but not exactly an experienced guy to run a team like the Flames for the rest of the season.
Maybe Ftorek can come up and make life hell for the team like he seemed to do with the other teams he coached.

It was good enough to win the Swiss league championship.

I would like a new age coach who doesn't try to motivate his team by screaming and threatening to send players to the minors.
You know, change things up a bit.

Does Hartley even have a system? Bleh it doesn't really matter, there is no point in Calgary finishing higher than the bottom 3. As painful as it is to watch.

Is it the system or the parts? He's working with a substandard roster.

The goon line should not be out at all. We need goals, for Christ's sake.

I won't argue that he is some amazing coach because he's not I just don't think a new coach will make a difference we might as well Ron Wilson him and let him coach the crappy years until we see a difference. At the very least he is teaching some defence to our youngsters; something the oilers kids never had.

Any bets on when Ramo tries to skate the puck down the ice and score himself?

McGrattan can't skate and can't help out defensively so the least he can do is stand at the top of the zone and cover his d-man but that is twice now he has left his man wide open. Luckily there the Blues went with the other open man or Cole has his second gift goal of the game.
At this point McGrattan might as well just skate off for a change if the puck goes into the Flames zone. It is a 5 on 4 with him out there anyways at least this way the new guy has a chance to get in there and help.

We get it, you don't like enforcers. You don't need to post about it at every opportunity.

I think a lot of it comes from his days with Colorado. To play devils advocate for a minute he was dealing with a different skill set. I'd be yelling to of that group wasn't all guns out in their play

So he should have stayed there. The Swiss league is the 5th best league, maybe lower.
What happens to hockey players that aren't good enough to play in the NHL? The AHL/KHL , then the SEL, then Liiga, then the Swiss league.
I know he has won things in the past, but what has he done for this club since he arrived?
It was fine watching everyone play balls to the wall to start the year, but its all effort and nothing else. Plugging away was fine in October, it's embarrassing in January.
