I think every ethnic group can claim its own fair share of racism... but I also think that us old white guys have come a long way towards fixing this. Can we say the same about other races/cultures?

I don't know how you are quantifying it? Clearly black people's racism towards white people hasn't diminished as much as the reverse, but they didn't start at labeling them as subhuman and buying and selling them so they didn't have near as far to travel. I also believe (no actual evidence to back this up) that whites are still much more racist towards blacks than the reverse, when in reality after all that white people have done to blacks they actually have good reason to hate honkies.

Old white guy : "I've got no problem with my daughter marrying that nice Asian boy... why is his family so upset about it?"

I'd like to hear you explain how that comment of yours isn't also racist. Or is it OK to make comments like that, as long as the group of people is white?

The funny thing is, is that those old white guys don't even realize their opinions are bigoted/archaic/slightly racist. They grew up in a different time, so they think their opinions are okay, and that the "stupid, young liberal posters are just too sensitive".

Actually, people tend to become more tolerant with age, at least more tolerant than their base, parent-influenced position when younger. Study below.

The old white guys of today were also part of The Protest Generation of the 60's and 70's. They were you once, from an era that coined the phrase "Never Trust Anyone Over 30."
It's not their problem if you're the loudmouth dumbass of today. After all, they were the loudmouth dumbasses of the 1960's and 1970's. Been there, done that. They were you once and you'll be them someday.

Is it racism if you say it about your own race? If it's still racist for a younger white guy to call old white people racist, than I guess it was racist.
I'm being a little extreme in my comments as well, and should perhaps scale it back a bit. It just seems there's a very common theme in my experience with older white guys and their views towards immigrants/other races. And it's almost always teetering on racism, if not fully there.

Depends what you call old. My grandpa was 83 and his generation is pretty horribly racist. My dad is 53 and I would say his generation isn't generally racist.

I'm either racist or guilty of using out of date terms. I never know.
By the way, they still call it the 'Indian Village' at the Stampede.

Help out a young "dumbass" as you so eloquently put it, understand exactly what you're saying here.
I was claiming that older white guys (and yes I understand the generalization and addressed it) seem to be a little bigoted/racist/intolerant, and the younger people of today tend to be more socially liberal and in favour of gender/racial equality.
To which you're claiming that we're just the loudmouth dumbasses of today, while they were the loudmouth dumbasses of yesterday. I get what you're saying, but there's one minor (major) issue here.
Loud, sure. But how are young socially liberal people in favour of racial and gender intolerance, the "dumbasses of today"? I see what you're getting at, I just don't see how it fits the context of what we're talking about here. And please, cowperson, engage.
