They might try to integrate it again later in the life-cycle when people are more accepting of their vision, and there are more units sold so the backlash isn't as large.

I really liked the idea of being able to "lend" someone your game. It's the one thing I wish Steam had. I have some friends who have moved away to other cities and it would have been a great way to lend them a game.

Well then, Microsoft must not be pounding the kool-aid as hard as I thought. Good on them.

I think Steam should offer 1 day passes (like they do with some games) for people on your Friends list that you can offer up when you buy a game.
Problem with that of course, is that some Single-Player games can be easily beaten in a day.

I'd like to be able to simply give them the game for say a 1 week period. During that time I cannot play the game.

This has been a textbook example of Prisoner's Dilemma between MS and Sony. MS was expecting Sony to announce a similar DRM strategy only to find out Sony didn't, and hence they were hit with all the backlash while Sony reaped all the rewards.

Also, no one could have expected the PS4 to be reasonably priced. Sony has always priced their stuff at premium levels. Then it turns out that not only are they cheaper than the Xbox, but they are 20% cheaper. I doubt MS expected that.

They share similar hardware but I think everybody knew Sony wasn't going to slap in a giant interactive peripheral like Kinnect like Microsoft does so that shaves off another $100.
Sony's way more humble these days, the PS3 backfired in a major way and now they are on the "off-the-shelf" bandwagon.

You mean like Sony patching out Linux support on the PS3? Nothing, same as nothing stops any of these guys from changing the rules whenever they feel like it after they have your money.

Xbox One still needs to change the camera and mic. I want to be able to turn them off permanently, none of this standby mode garbage. Im a PC gamer and I do own an Xbox 360, but I think its time to switch to PS4 for console gaming.

PS3 is apparently now ahead of Xbox 360 in terms of worldwide sales.

They were always going to catch up in global sales since they will always do good in Asia.

I already have a PS4 with games pre-ordered, I'm not changing it now. I see no point in the Kinect, and all I want to do is play video games on it so I don't need all this own the living room stuff.
You could have had me to begin with Microsoft, but you lost me. Maybe I will buy one down the road, and if not I will see what you offer for the next-next gen.

Well, hopefully they remain on track on their messaging about DRM this time around. They're still $100 behind with increasingly obvious yield problems and hardware that is arguably 50% behind the PS4 on top of your camera and mic concerns.

There is something to be said of the word integrity.
Having integrity proves to the world that you are true to yourself and to others. It shows that you stand up for what you believe in, and against all odds, do not lose sight of yourself. Integrity should be the backbone of all companies and should be what we all strive for, each and every day. That's why, when Microsoft confirmed it would be abandoning its strict DRM and online requirements for the Xbox One, I was more upset than I thought I would be.
Microsoft is just playing to the wind. They are reacting to the horrible press and backlash they received and are trying to right the ship. While that is respectable, the past isn't so easy forgettable. You can't forget the fact that they tried to force us into these new laws and that people would suffer for no real, valid, reason.
All that aside, I think this is a great win for the Xbox One. It is incredible to see the gaming community rise up together and have their voice so clearly heard and see change actually happen. I appreciate that Microsoft did listen and this will benefit both of us come November. That being said, we now know the true face of Microsoft.
