The Ferris State captain, Chad Billins, will get signed soon as a UFA. Would love to see the Flames give him a shot. He was awesome in that championship game.

Saw the game on TV today in the afternoon. Great game, loved every piece of it. Arnold and Gaudreau looked good, and that Dumoulin kid definitely has potential. Johnny's goal was sweet, the kid has awesome hands. Great to see that Arnold and Gaudreau have success in a winning environment.
I was really impressed with Parker Milner as well. His numbers have been sick all year, I'm pretty sure he'll get an NHL deal sooner than later.
The NCAA is a bigger, and harder league to play in. These are 18-24 year olds he's competing with; not 15-21 year olds. The fact he went PPG in the NCAA as an 18 year old is ridiculous. Toews wasn't even a PPG during his freshman season.
The players are older, yes, but the time between games is much greater. They basically only play on the weekend. That and the travel is less.
In my own opinion, the dub is a rougher league. more travel, twice as many games, and a lot of reckless behavior that I haven't really seen yet watching NCAA.
I miss the days when I was able to watch a bunch of Hockey East games. Went to the frozen four in Boston back in 98 as well. BC was in the finals back then too, they have been a powerhouse for many years now.
Interesting read about Gaudreau. Boston University was going to make a play for him only if Charlie Coyle wasn't coming back.
"Last summer, he was set to go to Northeastern. But then Greg Cronin resigned as coach, leaving the Huskies with a lot of unknowns. Gaudreau backed out of his commitment and decided to reconsider his options.
But Boston College was still not necessarily going to get him. Boston University was going to make a play, but had no scholarships available. Coach Jack Parker told Charlie Coyle he needed an answer on whether he was returning. Coyle said he was, and Gaudreau was left on the market."
Meanwhile, Phillip Samuelsson decided late in the summer to leave Boston College. That opened a scholarship there instead, and the Eagles gobbled up Gaudreau quickly. The kick in the pants to BU, of course, is that Coyle did wind up leaving, midway through this season, leaving the Terriers without Coyle or Gaudreau, and leaving their arch-rival with the goods.

Gaudreau's goal to make it 3-1 for the championship was world class. I am always cautious about some of the smaller NCAA players and their full cages and how they will translate if go to the NHL. Johnny no doubt oozes talent but will he continue to play with the brave edge without the full cage hard to say.
I hope he has a Cammalleri NCAA to NHL career. Both small and super talented that who Gaudreau reminds me of watching Cammy when he was with Michigan.

Very different player than Cammalleri. His vision is 99 percentile, with the skills to make it happen. If he has the strength to be an NHL player, I will predict he will be a better player than Cammalleri

He reminds me of Gretzky with his elusiveness and he'll need it, to do well in the NHL. I never meant to make that comparison but he looks like it will be feast or famine with Gaudreau. He'll get killed or he'll be a star.
That he scored 44 points in 44 games is very impressive for a college freshman.
