Texans sign Arian Foster to a 5 year 43.5 million dollar deal with 20.75 guaranteed. This makes him the 4th highest paid RB in the league. 5 more years of Foster!!

The Buffalo Bills have signed Stevie Johnson to a 5 year contract to drop sure Touchdowns for them.

ESPN article calling for Payton to be fired.

http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/76...bounty-program

The funny thing is that doesn't even hit on the biggest reason to fire him, that being his genius decision to have a convicted felon become one of the trusted members of the inner circle. Shocking that guy like that would wind up bank-rolling part of this bounty program.

Colts re-signed Robert Mathis to a new deal. Huge as Mathis/Freeney are enormous pieces to the team.

New Orleans quarterback Drew Brees reportedly does not intend to sign the franchise-tag deal offered by the Saints.
WIST-AM, citing sources in the Brees camp, reported, via CBSSports.com, that the record-setting quarterback is "livid" that he received the franchise tag.
Quote:
Brees and the Saints still can negotiate a long-term deal, but if one is not reached by July 15 then Brees must either sign the franchise-tag deal or hold out.
More trouble for the Saints?

My personal opinion is that Brees will sign a long term deal before July 15. He obviously wants to, and the Saints will need a positive PR move after this bounty situation sorts itself out.

As for the bounty stuff, the Saints front office seems to be adamant that they did not ignore the order to stop the practices. The owner is standing by his GM, etc. If that is the case that it was not continued after the warning, then I think the punishments will be less severe. They'll be more focused on Gregg Williams, Jonathan Vilma, etc. rather than franchise crushing penalties. I guess we'll see.

For commissioner Roger Goodell, player safety has become a top priority, and nothing could undermine that more than cash incentives for players to injure their opponents. One source close to Goodell said the commissioner's reaction to the initial reports of the bounties in the 2009 playoffs was, "God forbid this is true. This will be earth-shattering."

That's heartbreaking for me as a Colts fan, but I guess it is the best result for both parties. Here's hoping him and Wayne head to the NFC

I don't think so. I think it's pretty much a guarantee he goes to the Dolphins or Chiefs.

Let the games begin! This will be the most entertaining part of the next little while, finding out which team Peyton will join

I'm torn as a Phins fan. Obviously he's a great addition if he's healthy, but it's a short term solution and Flynn is out there as a potential long term option. The big word there of course is 'potential'. With Manning the question is his health, which you should be able to get a pretty good idea of before signing. With Flynn it's a question of whether or not he can do what we've seen in brief glimpses over the long term, and that's pretty much impossible to know.

I'll be happy if they get either of them, but this being the Phins I expect it to end pathetically either way.

I'm saying KC. I would be thrilled to have a healthy and productive Peyton on the Chiefs!

This will be a divisive topic for sure, but I think its one of the worst days in Colts history.

Peyton will go wherever he thinks he has the best shot at winning a Superbowl or two. I'm sure he will also like to avoid cold, roofless stadiums.
