The play book wasn't changed, the first 15 plays were just not scripted and handed to the players as most team do to memorize, but rather sent in by the coach.

But seriously, when your QB can't throw and you have no WR's, it prob didn't make a difference either way!

I watched the game, the announcer said the play book was changed. The Chargers Coach was very cautious with the plays and it was handed over to the team the morning of the game.

Did the Giants use video or audio recordings to steal the sign from the Dodgers?

Soooooo looks like the Pats are the only "cheaters" in the NFL, seems the like others who crying and whinning about cheating, are now being accussed of it.

Jets are a bunch of cheaters...too!

Quote:
"They did an outstanding job. I credit the New York Jets. Their defensive line and linebackers did a very, very effective job of illegally simulating the snap count," Billick said. "They did it the whole game long. It needs to be caught."

Best part of that is the fact Mangini(Jets coach) was a former assistant under Belichick....I love it, this would make a wicked motion picture...

Post link of Jet's whining please... And there is a marked difference in the level's of cheating. In fact the Jet's got caught doing it twice during the game and they were penalized ten yds. seems to me that if the NFL thought it was as bad as what the Pats did they might have taken away some draft picks.... don't think the league office even looked at it..

Sorry don't have any links off hand and really don't feel like looking around because I am sure you would defend it somehow to say it wasn't really whining it was just complaining or some other spin as you have done with the "different" types of cheating. The Jets got spanked and that is all they were upset about and being able to blame it on someone else made them feel better.

The Pats cheating did not effect the game at hand(accroding to the commissioner) when the type of cheating the Jets were trying to pull off was directly effecting that game. Obiviosuly didn't change their losing ways though.

Cheating is cheating I don't understand how people can say one form is better than the other. Its all the same...but thats your opinion and this is mine.

Well maybe I am wrong but the only thing I saw the Jets say about the incident is "It's a league matter, I have no comment"...

So would say wiping vaseline on a pitch is just as bad as intentionally throwing a game because you put some money on it?

Are you talking about the Jets-Ravens game? The Jets only had 2 penalties the whole game both for delay of game on the QB.

Well one you are trying to cheat to win and the other you are cheating to lose so I would say they are different. However both are cheating and should be dealt with.

The Pats cheated and the punishment was the $ and draft pick, the Jets cheated and got two 10 yard penalties. So they both cheated, both got caught and both got dealt with as the league and/or its officals see fit.

All I am saying is I think this goes much further than the Pats tapings signals from the opposition. I am (personally) getting tired of most people jumping on the Pats like they are the first pro team to ever cheat at their sport to win. EVERYONE DOES IT! It doesn't matter if you are Arod yelling "Got It", Pats taping some plays, F1 stealing info or Juicing up to win a homerun title. Cheating is cheating no matter how tiny or big it may effect the outcome, if at all.

I am not defending the Pats for what they did, but I am defending them for the way they have been treated by most. Putting an * besides their 3 superbowl titles, give me a break.

They are the best team to grace a football feild in the 2000's and will continue to be so for many years. No one can take that away from them and I think they proved that by bending over the Chargers a week after all this happening, that takes a lot of skill and preperation after everything they had to deal with just days before.

Just my opinion maybe it is a little cloudy because I do believe they are not the only team to have done this, regardless I hope they continue strong and go the SB once again. Too bad Arizona will beat them to win it all

edit: Spelling was horrible...you would think I was drunk!

I have a friend who coaches high school football, he steals signals, it happens all the time, no matter what level, people steal.

I played football as a kid. as a 12 year old, we had 3 coaches send the plays in during the playoffs and 2 were decoys so our signals didn't get stolen, if it happens for 12 year olds, you better believe it happens ALL THE TIME in the NFL.

Sounds like Billick is giving Mangini *the whiny little bitch* a taste of his own medicine.

Yup, they had a spy with a telescope in center field to see the catchers crotch and some sort of wiring to relay the signal to the dugout.

Pretty high-tech for 1951!

Sure, but the big difference is in the NFL is not legal. New England did not listen to the league direction and they received a heavy fine. Not to mention the league is continuing the investigation.

So far they are the only ones caught...

More info on this from ESPN...

Alabama coach Nick Saban said Monday the Cleveland Browns didn't videotape opposing coaches signals when he was defensive coordinator under Belichick from 1991 to 1994.
"I don't think that anybody can respect anybody trying to get an unfair advantage by breaking the rules," Saban said. "But Bill Belichick is a good friend of mine. I have a tremendous amount of respect for him. I've worked with him and I've learned a lot from him. But we didn't do those kinds of things when I worked with him."

The fact is, every team does this, the Pats were stupid and arrogant enough to use a camera. Other teams just wrote down what the coach is doing then compare it. Still it doesn't seem to matter, the Pats will still win the division and the Super Bowl this year. IMO, it taints nothing.

Again that is an assumption, at this time only New England has been fined. Which is a big deal as I can not remember ever hearing another professional team lose a first round pick.

However I agree New England is one of the favorites to win this year and there should not be an "*".

New England Coach should of been suspended in my opinion.

I misread the above article thought it said they got 2 penalties for 10 yards for doing their little shpiel. I missed the game as I was at Austin City Limits Fest. Btw I don't think their should be an asterik by their SB's. I just think what they did was a lot worse than the Jets yelling on the d line.

Again please post a link of Mangini whining. The only thing he has said is that its a league matter no comment. Where did he whine?
