Default Movie - Away From Her

This movie was just released on video, i watched it last night and when i read the thread regarding the hardest things that you have had to do i felt the need to start this thread.

Don't know if anyone has seen this movie yet but it's amazing, Sarah Polley directs it and it's about a couple that's been married for 44 years and the wife is diagnosed with Alzheimers. Very sad, but very realistic. I would recommend watching this if you enjoy these kinds of movies.

This movie got very VERY good reviews in the Herald around 6 to 8 weeks ago. I believe the female star is Julie Christie as the wife who develops Alzeimers and Gordon Pinsent is the husband.

It is basically a story of a couple who have been married for a long time and get separated not because the marriage breaks down but because one of the partners gets health complications (Alzeimers). And it shows the devotion of the husband still caring for the wife through her illness.

My wife and I saw it in the theatres...a very good movie (especially considering the age of the director)...definitely not a uplifting feel-good fluffy movie...a sad but worthwhile flick

It's been on my list, not only becuse I love Sarah Polley and she's hot as hell, but it does look like a decent film.

Wouldn't really compare it to the notebook, i would compare it more to In America in the sense that it's a very sad movie with believable characters and really well done.

I'm sure most women would enjoy this, not sappy like the noteboo though.

I want to see it, I never had the chance to get to the theatre when it was out.

We're currently going through, what appears to be, a similar thing with my grandmother (she doesn't know my name, doesn't know she has grandkids, some days she doesn't know she has children, but has a great poker face and tries to fake it). I'd like to see the spin that the movie puts on things.
