So if, for example, a piece of metal came flying off the back of a truck and you had to make a quick swerve to avoid running it over, having your phone or blackberry clutched in your sweaty paws wouldn't affect your reaction time? Or if someone sideswiped a car in front of you and you had to make an emergency lane change? Or if you hit a patch of ice and had to regain control of your vehicle?

If you are of the opinion you can drive properly while texting, I have little confidence in your evaluation of your driving overall. Any idiot can drive when nothing happens out of the ordinary, one of the characteristics of a good driver is how he/she reacts in an emergency. There, you fail.

I like to prepare breakfast while driving. I bring small propane powered campfire stove, and grill bacon on it while driving to work. While its simmering away nicely I like to give my beard a trim, using the rear-view mirror to make sure I'm doing a good job of it. I also usually read the newspaper and cut out any articles I find amusing so I can share them with my friends when I get to work.

Don't worry though guys, I'm an above average dirver and I glance up at the road from time to time.

I can't stand people who do other things then drive when they are supposed to be driving (phone, not watching the road, drinking, speeding etc). I've lost a gf because of a drunk driver, and had two friends be victims of accidents because of speeding/not watching the road/being on the phone. I'd rather be late to something and go 100-110 in a 100 zone then go 140 and injure myself or more importantly someone else.

yeah, that's what the two different fools who rear ended my Mom and my sister thought was well. One of them was nice enough to spend another minute on his phone before checking to see if my sis was OK. Both have permanent back injuries because of this.

I guess because they say that using a cell phone while driving is in some cases worse than certain levels of alcohol impairment, you're a better driver than everyone hear with a few shots down you too.

Didn't you read the part where I said I was an above average driver? Above average skill trumps the law. Every cop worth his salt knows that.

Well, if they pull you over BEFORE they see the "Class S (Superfast)" status on your licence, they might want to ding you for having the cylinder inside the car, just so they don't feel they've wasted their time.

I'd suggest getting a wood-burning stove instead, I'm pretty sure they sell the car-modified ones at Canadian Tire, but make sure you have your both your licence and drunk driving certification with you, because they have them behind the counter and not just anyone can get one. Also, get a qualified installer to put it in - I did mine myself and the girlfriend always complains when the sparks burn holes in her clothing.

Driving down the Deerfoot yesterday, saw a guy eating with a fork out of a giant tupperware container.... To his credit, he was driving in the center lane.

I might've missed this, haven't read some of the middle pages, but I did confirm that on Deerfoot, in the city limits, are signs that read "SLOWER TRAFFIC KEEP RIGHT".

That would mean that if someone is moving faster than you, you are slower, and you should move to the right.
