Hey AlbertGQ do you happen to be related to that lady I saw this morning trying to apply makeup on the deerfoot?

Anyone hear Jenna Holbrook this morning about the construction zone? I wanted to call her and tell her that the law is the law.

Yup. I'm related to everyone that drinks coffee while driving, does their make up while driving, listens to music loudly while driving, talk to other passengers in the car while driving, eats while driving, etc. The only people I'm not related to are the people that never goes over the limit and has their hands on the 10 o'clock and 2 o'clock positions at all times

Looks like you and I are related as well

Talking to someone in the car or listening to loud music does not take your eyes off the road for lengthy periods of time that text messaging does.

When I text, I rarely take my eyes off the road. I use predictive text and type only one word at a time, glancing upwards and onto the road

I've driven behind some people that would make me beg to differ with that statement. Those people scare me a lot more than any speeders.

I don't text unless there is open road in front of me. If I glance up, and I see a car ahead, I pause my text until I pass them. If there is no car in my lane ahead, I will text another word or two. I keep repeating until my text message is complete. It is a lot safer than eating or drinking coffee during DT rush hour

She got pulled over on her way to work this morning for doing 65 in a 60 zone. She said the workers were not there, and so the cop let her off. I felt like calling her and telling her that emphasizing the fact that it was pissing rain when she got pulled over does not help her case. Going 5 over the limit in a rain storm is likely to get you a ticket from any officer with a rain coat and a hat. Luckily for her, the workers weren't there so she was within the law...only due to ignorance though.

This is another discussion all together, but I am a huge fan of texting. I hate talking on the phone, and a quick text to the gf and I am free! No getting stuck hearing about her coworkers' friends' friend's hair.

Man texting while you are driving is flat out dangerous. Even if you think you are doing OK by not taking your eyes off the road - your attention is diverted. If it's that important pull over and take care of your business.

Texting while driving?

I shake my head in disbelief.

I bet I can text and drive better than most can drive and eat, or drive and drink (coffee), drive and talk to passengers, or even drive in general

A real man should be able to wrassle and butcher a wild boar and drive at the same time.

I just wish the Police would get out of the construction zones and fine the speeders what ever lane they're in!
I'll get out of a lane for someone coming through no matter what the speed, but don't hassle me in while I'm doing so.
