if someone in the middle lane is doing 90 and the guy wants to pass them, he switches lanes, goes 100 until he passes the guy and then moves back as soon as possible.

my problem is with people who "cruise" in the left land doing the speed limit. It's a passing and/or speeding lane.

another example, if i'm doing 110 in the left lane and some guy coming behind me is doing 120 (or at least reasonably gaining on me) i get out of his way, those are the rules of the road.

just for the record, I don't ALWAYS speed, if anything i'm within 10k or less if I am speeding, but sometimes i get stuck behind to morons doing 90 and they are making passing impossible, that is just unsafe.

I love when speeding threads come up around here, some people get on their high horses and the condescending tones come out in full force.

If you speed and you drive well, than good on ya. I respect people who can do both in a respectable and controlled manner. But don't ever give an excuse that a guy was driving the speed limit in the left lane and you ram into him because you couldn't wait the 30 seconds it took for the guy to pass the guy in the middle lane. Is your life's appointments and plans SO DAMN IMPORTANT that you can't wait 30 seconds or drive the speed limit for once? C'mon. If you speed for the rush, hit up a track. If you speed to cut down on time, you probably need to manage time better.
see post above, my pet peeve is guys who cruise in the lane, which unfortunately happens far too often.

Nah, that's just selfish. You can't be inconvenienced for 10 seconds, so he should just stay off the road? Meh.

I'm with you, btw, on going all the way to the end of a closed lane before merging in. It's completely legal, and someone will always let you in. In fact, things would run a whole lot smoother if everyone worked it that way. But people are idiots. Luckily someone will always let you in, so it's all good.

The one that bugs me is guys merging over a white line like on Blackfoot going to NB Deerfoot. That's just dangerous.

Damn straight I go all the way to the end, or at least most of the way and merge in. WTF is the pavement there for? We pay to have it paved, why shouldn't we use it? Because some stupid granny decided to start flailing her arms and switching lanes 700 meters before the lane ran out. CAUSING TRAFFIC TO BACK UP?

You think I'm backing up traffic? Are you one of those ######s that starts merging immediately after 14th becomes level and 500 meters before teh lane runs out? Yeah. I'M backing up traffic. Fu**ing LOL.
How would you ever know you were not backing up traffic! Cause all the people you just cut infront of are waiting behind you. Imagine if everyone did what you did. Do you think it would slow down traffic or speed it up? Get a clue that is why they give you plenty of time to get over so you aren't slowing everyone down.

I merge in when there is an opertunity to get in, and i don't stop in the open lane trying to get someone to let me in (those people piss me off too). I just don't race to the front so i can get out quicker, when there was plenty of time before instead of forcing someone to let you in.

its your own fault you chose to live in a g*d forsaken neighbourhood like mackenzie lake and it takes you forever to get anywhere.
I live in Mckenzie town and I can get to many parts of the city quite quickly thanks to having a 100km road next to me with no lights.

Now ask the god forsaken people in Shawnessy or anyone in the SW how long it takes to get to work

If its not rush hour I can reach downtown in 15-20 mins easy. Just don't ask how long it takes to NW.

I restrained myself in the other thread and in this one I won't. If you want to drive at or below the speed limit do not screw up anyone else's driving because you want to do that. Mind your own God damn business and stay OUT of the lane you KNOW you don't want to be in. It makes everyone happier if you don't want to be rushed. If you go in the left lane I (and others like me) will tailgate you because you deserve it, then don't come to calgarypuck and say that we are wrong for doing so. You were just as wrong for instigating the problem in the first place.

Just leave me alone and I won't bother you- just follow the old saying: lead follow or get out of the way. MOST of you should get out of the way. Others can follow. And very few (notibly 4X4 and REDVAN) can lead. END OF DISCUSSION PLEASE AND THANKS.

LEARN TO DRIVE OR GET OFF THE ROAD
People that tailgate like that are a menace. A quick stab of the brakes is a nice reminder that they are idiots for following too close.

are you that naiive that you don't think A LOT of people speed?
So we have to change the rules for those who break them then?
Alot of people do tons of stupid illegal stuff. Why don't we allow it all because they're gonna do it anyway.

the problem is that if I get bumped on the sidewalk by someone speeding by I'll be fine. If I get bumped by you speeding through traffic (especially with your apparent rage issues) I might die.

Slightly off-topic, but back in the mid-1980s I had a friend stay with my while he was attending SAIT for a couple winters. He drove a 1965 Fargo pickup with home-made bush bars on the front made out of 3 inch pipe. For some reason he never had a problem with people not getting out of his way. One look in their rearview mirrors and they couldn't change lanes fast enough. Maybe there's something to be said for rural vehicles afterall, in spite of Urban1's misgivings about them.

So we agree.

Yeah, me too, if I get the chance. Sometimes you just can't until you gain one more carlength. If the guy behind me can't understand that and goes all crazy, I'll suddenly foget where my gas pedal went for a second. No brakes, but I won't speed up for him.

That used to bug me. Now I'm old, and don't really care if I need to slow down. I don't know what happened, but very little really gets to me anymore.

I love how most of you people translate DO NOT KEEP PACE WITH CENTER LANE WHEN IN LEFT LANE into I wanna drive like a maniac and you all better like it.

Really. This is like those damn pedestrians that screw left turners by running out into the street even though the hand is flashing. (sorry firefly)
You people seem to think that you're only affecting me (mr impatient). Not true. You're affecting the whole left lane of traffic. Half of those DT lights only let 2 or 3 left turners thru per light. Your inconsideration reduces that to the one that is in the intersection.

I'm going to guess when you speak with such emotion on the issue people are going to presume things over your intial point...

If it were 10 seconds I wouldn't be on this forum whining. It's more than that, and it's way too often. Almost seems daily that there's somebody meandering in the left lane, inadvertantly or purposely keeping pace with the middle lane. Drives.Me.Nuts.

Not saying that at all, but complaining about people driving the speed limit is not exactly a winnable argument, legally speaking.

And I'm going to guess that when you speak with such arrogance, people are going to presume that you're one of those inconsiderate/oblivious people that need to re-take their driver's test.

How do I speak with arrogance?! I said earlier I have no problem with people who speed as long as they do in a respectable and controlled manner. If your one of those people, good for you. But considering the amount of passion you seem to have for the topic, it's hard to believe.

I'm not trying to make this personal 4x4. If it came across like that, I apologize. I'm also trying not to be arrogant (though I think that happens subconciously then a concious decision) but if it came across like that, that wasn't my intention. We're all here to cheer for the flames right?
