I seriously can't get my ratio up on that site

I can never find a torrent that I will end up sharing more than I get.

Best bet is to upload your own. My ratio is above 2.00 now.

Otherwise, you have to basically seed anything you download forever.

Which I don't mind seeding forever, but it's hard to find anything that has more than one or two leechers by the time I get it.

And I was scared to up anything, their requirements seem to be pretty strict.

Yeah, I had a good mentor and was patient at the beginning, so I didn't really go through that. But I just spent a couple weeks helping my buddy save his account due to a poor ratio.

Some questions:

-Are you "clever"?

-Do you use the "top 10" feature? If you don't have access to it, I HIGHLY recommend donating the 5 euros so you can use it. I click on "top 50" and search for stuff that has made it on there in the last 8 hours or less- a good indicator that it will help boost your ratio if you jump on it quickly.

-If you can find it elsewhere and don't need a 320 or V0 version, don't waste your ratio on it there.

-Keep uTorrent going whenever you can. Also go through the FAQs and optimize uTorrent.

-Upload, upload.

Yeah, the trick is to use that top 50. And as far as uploading goes, I was nervous too for the first couple, but I went through the FAQs and guides carefully, and managed to get things working. I think the "strict" image is keep out morons, not people who are actually giving things an honest effort. So, yeah, check out the jiggafellz guides, they rip.

I found the easiest thing to do is the find the tutorial on their forum, and rip CDs in lossless format.

I have a real problem trying to keep my ratio up, so if people need help when they upload files (Ro, photon, AC)....let me know, and I'd be glad to help. I kept open torrents for almost 3 weeks and it only got leeched about 5% of the size.
By the way, thanks for the invite earlier Ro!!

Yeah, that can be a problem sometimes. Although I find it happens mostly with albums that are, a) popular, b) have been out for a while, and c) everybody on Oink has them already. In those instances, I try to keep them open in uTorrent until the ratio for that particular torrent is at 1.00, or as close as possible. They aren't there to boost my ratio, and I try not to let them hurt it.

Another tip for newbies/ratio builders- create a folder called "Oink Boosters" or something to that effect. Whenever it's convenient for you (I try to do it a couple times per day), download something brand new (put on the site within the last few hours) that seems to have a lot of traffic, simply for boosting purposes. After a week or so, when you've uploaded more than you originally downloaded, right click on the file in uTorrent and choose "delete and remove." Again, this is easier ot do if you;re a power user, so I highly suggest you donate to achieve that status if you're not there yet, although you can do it just by browsing the new uploads. Having those files in a separate download folder is nice, just so you don't get them all mixed up with stuff you want.

Oh yeah, just remembered this- a friend of mine has been experimenting with the "promo" torrents to boost his ratio. Simply type that in the search box and snatch some stuff that's been recently uploaded. Said it's been working for him. I guess bottom line is that if your ratio needs help, sometimes you have to download a bunch of stuff you dont want and seed it. Then delete it. Anyways, hope that helps somebody.

And I'm out of invites now. Didn't think it would take long, and it didn't. Enjoy them everybody, and sorry to those who missed out.

Promo's and any recently uploaded advance copies of ANYTHING will boost your ratio. But the best and fastest way is to upload a couple albums in flac format.

I had created a similar thread to give away some invites to oink before but it got closed due to questionable legalities. If anyone's still looking for an invite, PM me, I've got a couple kicking around still.

Yeah, no problem! It took me forever to snag an invite, so I'm just spreading the wealth, so to speak.

Edit- I forgot to mention this other way to improve your ratio. Snatch only a file or two from a specific album (the big singles or bonus tracks or "new' tracks from greatest hits compilations). For some reason, you can get crazy upload ratios doing this. Like 40x or 50x what you d/l.
