If one coach is fired midseason it will be the kid in Oakland.

My Picks:
Patriots over Saints in the SB
Team to surprise: AFC: Houston. NFC: Vikings
Team to dissapoint: AFC: Indy (by their standards) NFC: Cowboys (being a Texans fan I couldn't pick anyone else )
Coach to be fired is Coughlin in New York if anyone.
This year should be tremendous. The AFC remains stacked with great teams which will make for some classic matchups to be sure. The NFC offers up-and-comers like Detroit, Minnesota, Detroit along with their perennial powers which will be very exciting to take in as well.
Can't freaking wait.

I have to disagree with you here. With the Raiders head coach resembling a revolving door the past few seasons (Gruden, Callahan, Turner, Shell) Kiffen gets at least two, possibly 3 seasons. The team has no where to go but up and until Davis signs Russell, Kiffen wont have a chance to develop the future QB.
I agree with Trojan97, Coughlin is the most vulnerable to start the season.

Did you get to see any preseason games? How was Schaub? I think the Texans are an intriguing team. Also, is Davis 100%?

Are you talking about Domanick Davis, now known as Domanick Williams? I know he was cut and there's a good chance he'll have to retire as his injury is much the same as Curtis Martin's (i.e. bone on bone).

Wow, didn't realize it was that injury. I guess the acquisition of Green should've given me a clue.

I believe Ahman Green is the starter, he should have a good year or two left on him. A good and underated back.
I saw one game and they looked quite good. Better pass pro, decent dline push, and Schaub looks good. I like some of those guys in fantasy leagues, they many of them like Johnson, Green and Schaub are underrated thus far in drafts I have done.

TB has some up-side - going from a hard schedule last year to an easy one this year.

As rube said, Domanick (Davis) Williams was put on IR prior to last season and faded away when the season ended. He'll never be back.
As for Schaub, he looks good so far. The most noticeable difference from his predecessor, David Carr, is how comfortable and poised he looks. He stands in the pocket, makes good throws, and when he gets sacked he almost always follows it up with a completion (something Texans fans aren't used to). He seems like a good fit for the offense because it's based more on quick timing routes then deep passes ie. quick outs/slants for the WR's and comebacks/look-ins for the TE's. The emergence of Jacoby Jones at WR3 definitely helps because not only is he giving the offense tremendous field position on special teams (although at the moment he's taking most of his returns back for 6) but he's using his awesome speed to turn low risk plays into big yardage gains. I wouldn't be surprised if he passes Kevin Walter for the #2 behind AJ as early as week 4.
**forgot to add, he's made a couple long throws on the run that made him look like an all-pro. If he can continue it in the regular season, the offense will be very solid.
The Texans are definitely a wildcard of a team. They've been given a schedule where they could win 9-10 games if things go right. The lines will decide the fate of the season, the d-line is really inexperienced but has lots of potential. The o-line is a fairly veteran group but outside of Chester Pitts is just not that good. They'll have to rely on their chemistry to get them through the year.
**one more thing, anyone looking for a sleeper tight end in fantasy needs to look at Owen Daniels. He should be good for about 45-50 catches and 500-550 yards with about 8 TD's. Kubiak and Schaub absolutely love the guy and he has the uncanny ability at the TE position to make guys miss

The Texans have defintley improved, I could see them really contending for a playoff spot next year. Okoeye, Ryans, Williams are a great group of players to build the defense around, and Schuab is a definite upgrade over Carr. But there stil very young, Schuab is going to go through some growing pains like every QB starting his first year. The AFC is just too strong right now.

You got to love this week. I am dying from anticipation. Will my team be better than expected? Will they stink it up? Emotions will either be running high, or in the dumps following the results this weekend for millions of fans.

And what were the numbers again about every year a team that starts 0-2 comes back to make the playoffs? Good chance some team will start off 0-2 and make it in on the last weekend.
I'm going to take the Patriots over the Chargers in the AFC title game this year and the Eagles over the Saints for the NFC. In the Superbowl...same as it ever was Patriots....puke.

I hate the Pats, but I fully expect them to coast to an AFC title, and grind their way to another SB victory.
I'll cheer a little for NWO again, and predict they'll be the NFC reps.
And my Dolphins will suck again.

I don't see how the Pats can just goast to an AFC Title. When you have the Chargers, Colts, Ravens, Bengals, Steelers, exc. to go up against. The argument can be made that the Pats are the best team in the AFC, but they are far from being head and shoulders above everyone else.

Not to dismiss any of the NFC teams...but I think the last two weeks of playoffs in the AFC are where the Superbowl Champion will be determined. Any of the teams you mention could very well be there and none of them are push overs. Really it wasn't that long ago where that was the case in the NFC and whoever out of the 49'ers, Cowboys, Giants, Packers would roll over the AFC team.

Yeah, the "coasting" thing is probably the bitter Fish fan in me. But they do play 6 games against a relatively weak AFC East (MIA, NYJ, and BUF), and should net 5 wins minimum from those games. So if they go 5-1, all they need to do is go 6-4 in their other games to finish at 11-5, and get a bye.
They're still the best coached team in the league, and their offence is going to be as good as it's ever been this year if even one of Moss or Stallworth works out.
But bottom line is I agree with you. They are not way better than the other AFC contenders. I just think they have the easiest path.
