Default Cell Phone Stolen

Hey I had my Cell phone stolen at a pub a while back and I'm trying to get a new one. I really just want one exactly like I had before, but since I'm buying it with no contract they want $180 for it whereas I initially got it for free.

Any other suggestions?

I had a red LG245 on Telus.

Buy an LG 245 talkaway from Best buy

http://www.bestbuy.ca/catalog/prodde...64&catid=23499

69.99

It will cost you an extra 10 to activate from home.

Edit: Future shop has it for even less:

Is it with Telus? I know a couple of people who have phoned Telus to say that their handset has been stolen, and Telus has hooked them up with ridiculously low prices on new handsets. But then again, I know a guy who just tried that and basically got told to pound sand. But it's definitly worth a shot.

I used to work for Telus, whether or not they hook you up depends on the following:

1) How big your monthly bills are
and
2) How much time is left in your contract.

If your bills are $150+ they will be a lot more likely to help you. And by help you I mean allow you to sign a new contract. If there is lots of time left in your contract they really have no reason to get you to sign a new one. The rule is, if there is less than 6 months left you can sign a new contract. If there is slightly more than that, you can sign a new one but it will probably take some arguing, threatening to leave etc....

Telus has clamped down on offers lately. If there's too much time left on your contract, the most they'll offer anyone anymore is $100 on a new three year contract or refurbished phones for either $25 or $50. You're better off doing the Talk Away bundle posted previously. Threatening to leave no longer matters, they've pretty much put the kibosh on everything.

FireFly, I wish you worked for Rogers. It would be awesome to have an "inside track" on the goings on. My contract is over, but they have the best signal and deal, currently, but I don't want to pay a buttload for a new phone.

My monthly bills are usually only around $70 and the thing is I just signed a new contract in June. Honestly, I just want my damn phone back. It really wasnt worth anything to anyone but me, and I have to say it really pisses me off that someone would take it for no reason.

And I dont want some amazing phone that calls 30 people at once while making my breakfast, I just want what I had before. I'll try calling Telus and see what they can do, I'll try not to expect any miracles.

This website might be of help for you. I had my contract end and I got a free phone upgrade and a real nice plan for cheap using the advice in that forum.

Telus won't activate an unlocked phone on their network, so that won't work in this case.

And that is the roughest part of losing (or getting robbed of) a cell phone. How many numbers did you lose?
This is what I love about sim cards. They store it for you so that when you get a new phone, you still have your contacts. That is, unless your phone was stolen.

The third one on the list by "hhotwingzz" is a telus phone. That one is only for telus.

By the time that auction ends it will be priced a lot higher.

http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/sub...EN&catid=10155 Is the best deal you are going to find.

nah, right now the price of phone + shipping is bout $30 future shop has it for $70 + gst...I don't think there are that many ppl just lining up to buy that phone...I would recommend bidding on the phone till the price gets to $25-$30 range (on the phone itself)...

If it is going to be a $10-15 price difference I would go to Futureshop...what happens if he buys the phone and it has been reported lost/stolen then what? He paided the money and still has no phone...

Plus futureshop he would get a 1yr warranty and with this phone on ebay he would get nothing!

Then you contact the seller; and if they refuse to do anything you start the chargeback process with Paypal.

Having said that, for $10 I would go into a store rather than buy it off eBay.

deoends on what you prefer, I've had a really good experince with ebay, bought jerseys, cellphones, video games, laptop bags, movies, etc from ebay and only had one issue bout 3 years ago, and I was refunded my money right away.

Than again I'm against big companies and would rather give my money to some dude rather than buy stuff from big companies like FUture shop etc. HEHE

Well at the time of posting it was actually on sale for $60 (labour day sale). Anyway, like other posters have said. For the extra little money go w/ futureshop. You will get a warranty that way, which is a huge deal (btw dont bother w/ the extended... that is a scam at least on lower priced phones anyway). From my experience there are a lot of things that can go wrong w/ a phone. Telus stores in the West are not corporate run. So they will not repair a phone unless you bought it from the particular franchise owner. In this case there is no store to send it back to.

I seriously doubt this phone will stay below 30 dollars on ebay anyway. I recently sold a phone which was much older and much crappier for sixty.
