Default Big Screen TV Help

I have a 46" Hitachi Projection TV. It's just over 3 years old, and have had no problems with it....until Yesterday.

I got home from work yesterday, and sat down to turn on NFL Total Access to catch up on the day's news, and turn on the TV. Well, the picture is all messed up. It seems like the red gun has been messed up.

I don't know much about these things, so I have some questions if someone on here can help me out:

1) What causes this?
2) How hard (expensive) is it to fix?
3) Can i Fix it myself?
4) Does anyone know who to call in Calgary to come to my house and fix this?

Your convergence is out.....likely the STK chips have failed. Probably about 3-400 bucks to have someone come out and do it, but I have no idea about the service abilities in Calgary any more.

I don't agree, Convergence is something that doesn't just one day go waaay out of whack unless you moved the TV or something drastic... it will slowly go out of alignment over time and can use a servicing ever few years to line it back up (something you can learn to do yourself if you know how to get to the screen). speaking from recent experience I had a situation where all of a sudden everything on my TV had a green blur, almost like auras. Of the three picture tubes my green one was shot, I was fortunate that it happened in the last month of my 5 year extended warranty... never thought that thing would pay off... but at $500 dollars it paid for itself and some... the tubes are expensive and under no warranty you may not even want to bother... they will only need to replace that one, I assume your red one, but at a price point of anywhere from $500-700 a shot its a big deal. I used southland crossing TV. they came to my house - the only reason I choose them was because thats who Soundsaround uses for warranty work, otherwise they were less than impressive and not someone I'd recommend... but I tell you as they may be the only game in town for all I know.
