Printers Cut By Lions...er...I mean Chiefs - TSN
http://tsn.ca/cfl/news_story/?ID=217325&hubname=
Good grief, it would be nice to have this guy on the Stamps. Burris can be amazing ... but the key words in that sentence are "can be".
Ugh, wrong title, please edit, he was cut by the Chiefs. Great googily-moogily.

Do his CFL rights still belong to the Leos?

I *think* he'd come back as a free agent .. not 100% sure though.

One of the top QBs in the CFL cant make the roster in Kansas City. If he cant stick in KC, I dont think there are too many teams with openings... back to the CFL I imagine.

Well I would imagine that the Argos, Ti-Cats, and maybe the Als and Leos would be interested if he is a free agent.

The Argos will get him - they've been clamouring for him since the day he went south.
Oh, and to answer the question above, he is indeed a free agent. Only players in their option year of their CFL contract who have signed a contract in the NFL need to return to their previous team. Printers option year was last year so he can go where he wants. However, if Kenton Keith were cut for example, he'd return to the Riders as he is in his option year.

The folks doing the post-game show on TEAM 1040 last night seemed pretty sure that he'd be going to Toronto, but wouldn't that leave them with 4 QBs (assuming McMahon gets cut)?

Who are the Chefs? (Awesome commercial!)
They said on the news last night that he declined the offer to stay on their practice squad. Which means it sounds like he'd rather play. Hopefully he'd rather play in the CFL for less money than to stay on an NFL practice squad.

Great Googily Moogily.
I presume he is a FA since he was down there last year on their roster. CFL players can only go to the US if they are in the last year of a CFL deal. I bet the Stamps find a way to get this guy in.

Today, TSN is reporting that if he clears waivers he'll accept a practice roster spot with the Chiefs. He still thinks that with the likes of a banged up Huard and Brody I like to toss INT's Croyle in front of him that he can still have a chance to play. Either way the CFL has run out of decent QB's and someone will have money to pay him next year. I mean as bad as Burris has been for the Stamps he's still in the top half of QB's in the CFL...and the league only has 8 fricken teams. Really outside of Ray in Edmonton no team in the CFL has a very good QB. Calvillo used to be good but age has caught up to him, Glenn can be okay at times, Kerry Joseph is inconsistant as is Burris, Dickenson can't play more than 2 weeks in a row, and the rest are all bums.

I agree with the point in general but I'd trade Burris for Ray, Joseph, Pierce or Cavillo right now.
None of the above have the weapons that Burris has.

Apparently Printers will not sign on with the Chiefs practice roster.
The article states the TiCats, Argos, and Arizona Cardinal have all expressed interest.

it also says he can make $500,000 in the CFL.....
I don't think so anymore. There is no way a team can be competitive and dump that much money into their QB. Plus with the actual enforcement of the salary cap so that the most flagrant violators (EDMONTON, TORONTO, SASKATCHEWAN) can't cheat, they can't slip this under the books or try some bogus "consultant" fee that the Owner pays him seperately.
I think he'll end up in the CFL, but not for another year or two.

I hope he ends up with the Ticats. That team needs something to ignite the offense and give the fans a reason be be excited. With the return of Bishop and the signing of Boerigter I wonder if the argos have space for him. Neither Printers or Bishop would be happy in a Back-up role.

What has Casey done to make himself one of the top QB's in the CFL?
The guy is over rated and hasn't thrown a CFL football in 2 years. I'm sure he could help a team like Hamilton, but I don't think he's a saviour of any sort, and I don't think he's an upgrade on Hank right now. I'm much rather have a rolling Henry than a rusty Printers.

So what if Henry takes the Stamps on a ride this fall puts up an impressive record and we end up hosting the Western Semi-final again? And what if yet again for the third time in a row he tosses up some ducks to be picked off by the opposition in the big game? Sound familiar? Will you be satisfied with his impressive regular season stats and want him back yet again for another season of September Triumpths and November follies? If so you must have been a staunch Robert Reichel and Kent Nielsson fan.
Futhermore how is Printers rusty? He has just spent a month and a half playing for a spot in the toughest football league in the world. Which judging by the procedure calls the Stamps still get must have amounted to much more practice time than Burris this season. What we're talking about here is swithcing out 330,000 of Burris salary for a rumored $400,000 for Printers who is much younger and already more accomplished in the CFL (2004 League MVP, Led BC to Top record in the league, and to the Grey Cup that year too). I say it's worth the gamble.

It's not like Printers would just come in here and start throwing bombs no problem. He'd need to learn the Offence. There would probably be a few bad games before he became consistent. There are only 9 games left in the season. Hardly a time to change QB's unless you have nothing to lose like Hamilton. Calgary does have something to lose here, and that's a playoff spot. Printers has been lining up against 11 defenders for 2 years. I don't think the switch to either league is ever simple even if he's played here before. Furthermore, he's got an attitude problem and if you recall from last year, they tried to weed some of that stuff out this year by adopting the "One" motto and no TD celebrations etc. I think this team believes in Hank right now, and I don't want to mess with that.
If Henry doesn't do well in the playoffs or the team misses the playoffs, I won't want him back next year and neither will anyone else. But I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. He's played extremly well the past 6 games. If we had any kind of defence, we may be challenging for first right now. But as I see it, this late in the game the team has to focus on what they've got. Burris is putting up career numbers. I'm willing to take the risk in the playoffs and I support Hank and this team.
Go Stamps Go.

You're 100% right... and that's why the Stamps won't be picking up Printers. Making the playoffs in the CFL is really no major achievement... you just have to be better than the 2 worst teams. The Stampeders seem to think its some amazing achievement, and therefore keep their trust in a QB capable of only that. Henry is a proven choke and I wouldn't give him another chance to blow it in the playoffs, despite his current form. The best thing for the Stamps to do is to trade Burris for a strong D-line presence to someone willing to endure the "september triumphs and november follies", and pick up Printers with the cash saved.

Well todays headline now has him signing at an undisclosed location to play with a CFL team within 24 hours. The story cites Hamilton, Toronto, Calgary, and Winnipeg as possible destinations. I would think Hamilton or Toronto seem to make the most sense...but I'm not sure if the Argo's would be able to get him in under the cap. I guess we'll see what happens.
