I preordered Halo 2 and got a hat and 2 of the halo figurines which the kids had fun with. I got that at Futureshop.

I was wondering if anyone has had a chance to see good pre-order goodies for Halo 3?

I saw that Futureshop has a free Halo 3 hat and an "I pwn" shirt. In addition, if you order it online you get $5 off the purchase price.

I couldn't find a deal at Best Buy (which surprised me) nor at EB Games...although it is early and they may have one closer to the release date.

I started this thread to keep track of preorder goodies that CPers hear about.

which version did you guys pre-order, b/c i've heard there are 3 different versions, just wondering if anyone was gonna put out 120 ish for the 3rd version,

i haven't ordered mine yet...but it will either be the base one or the collectors one. for sure though, not the expensive one.

i have one already and while the 360 is no wii, the wii is no 360. i don't even think it is a fair comparison since they are aimed at different markets.

I am really going to need to preorder this game? I have preordered many games in the past only to arrive at the store and find it stocked full of said game. These were popular games too, but for the PC, I've never done it with a console game before.

i wouldn't think that you NEED to pre-order...but if you are going to get the game anyways, and you could get free stuff, then why wouldn't you?

retailers like it because it is committed purchases...they know how much revenue they will be getting and it helps them order.

my point of this thread though was to try to figure out who had the best deal for pre-ordering. there will likely be more/similar/better pre-order deals as the launch date gets closer though.

so far the free hat, free shirt, and $5 off for an online order at futureshop seems to be the best deal.

its a free hat. there will always be someone, somewhere, that wants to trade it for something.

btw, who actually rolls with a hat on anyways?

shirt? just one more to get thrashed working in the yard or under hockey gear.

ps. they are free with the game. so far, this is the only deal i have been able to find...therefore beggars cannot be choosers!

Deal update! best buy is now offering a free master chief t-shirt with a pre-order. I was in ebgames today and still no deal listed from them.

that's a good question. did you do a deposit with them? they might keep it if you bail. but eb should offer something as the launch date comes closer.

i read the wired magazine article today on halo 3 and man...does it look good.

am i the only one here with a 360 and no plans to buy Halo 3? played the first for PC, didn't see what was so special and never had the urge to finish it. played the beta for the 3rd and still can't find the draw. probably just as well though, with Bioshock, NHL 08, Quake Wars, and Team Fortress 2 i'll have spent enough on games in the next little while

So you played a ported version that came out years after the original on a different system and a multiplayer beta test? Wow.

Go rent it, I find it hard to believe you wouldn't like it if you played the real game. Halo is fantastic.

actually Bungie had designed Halo originally for the PC, and the only reason it ended up being an Xbox exclusive was because Microsoft bought out Bungie.PC's were also much more powerful than an Xbox at that time, not to mention the superior controls (mouse+keyboard) so there's no reason it shouldn't have been even better than the Xbox version

so what exactly makes it so special? i grew up playing first person shooters from the very beginning, with Wolfenstein and Doom, and i've played many of them that i thought were much better than Halo. i've just never understood the hype it receives
