Ideas for door prizing
OK, and before anyone says it, "hookers and blow" is NOT an option!
Here is the gig. I have to buy some door prizes (budget about a grand worth) for a slopitch wind up tournament. In years gone by, we have had some of the norms like golf balls, Flames jerseys (had an autographed Dany Heatley Team Canada jersey one year), Canadian Mint collector coins, boom boxes, home DVD players, PS2s etc.
Have been hunting for some unique items, but time is running out. Some ideas of what would be interesting, but not available in Calgary that I can find, are like these two items....
Hug Salt & Pepper Shaker
"The Ex" Voodoo Knife Set
I remember a couple unique wine bottle holders that I got as gifts for some friends too; a couple chefs holding the bottles. Cute. Will be trying to find them again, me thinkst.
Bottom line, if anyone could direct me to some unique gift shops, or if they know of any good bargains on items that would work as door prizes, let me know!
Thanks everyone.

It's a UK store, but I think they've got some N.A. outlets or partners now. This shop sells the coolest stuff going. It's where I got my remote controlled fart machine a few years back.
Best $20 I ever spent...

The MoMa design store is a great resource for small gifts like this. It's my go to place for buying gifts.

The puzzle clock. That thing would be thrown against the wall the first morning it is used.

Larf.. some interesting sites/ideas.... but UK or NY isn't going to work for the weekend after next! And Table, funny enough, your site sells the salt and pepper shakers I posted above. If time permitted, I would have ordered them.

Yep, thats why I suggested it. They have a lot of stuff that is similar quality wise. Im sure there's an option for a speedy delivery...next week sounds doable if you order soon.
Calgary could use a good design store of similar ilk.

a round of golf is always a good bet, or something physically active (a day-pass for a gym, simming or skiing lessons)
If you could get a night at any of the hotels, maybe a coupon for a liquor store, or grocery store.
Practical stuff is just as good as odd ball stuff.
Oh a shower radio would be popular, it's something everyone would use but no one buys for themself.
Can't go wrong by going into an electronics store like The Source by CC and seeing what odd ball stuff they have on clearance (like a BBQ set, Texas Holdem Chipsets, Wine Openers, etc)

If you liked the Ex knife holder, perhaps stuff from http://www.thinkgeek.com/ might work for you? There's a few things that might be non geekish enough to be cool.

i don't know how expensive it is, but at my wind up last year there was an NFL cooler with a built in radio. That's a pretty nice prize for a slo-pitch team.
