I'm assuming you mean a landline, not mobile, right?
If so, doesn't Telus have a monopoly on local phone service?

Having serious issues with Telus right now though. Every single month, there seems to be some issue that I have to call in to get dealt with.

We've been on Shaw for a while now and like it. Love the fact my wife can talk to her out of town friends for hours if she wants and it doesn't cost a dime extra.

I got Shaw about 4 months ago, and I have to admit I am pleasantly surprised at how great it has been. No problems whatsoever, and they have even called me a couple of times to see how things are going. A major upgrade from Telus, IMO.

CIA here, pretty cheap at $47.59/mo for internet and phone. No free long distance, although the rate is very cheap. They gave me a $100 credit when I signed up almost 2 years ago and I still have $85 left that keeps getting carried over.
No problems until last week, internet cutting out. Waited at home yesterday for a sevice call, no show. On hold with them right now.
Since it's basically Shaw, do the Shaw techs do all the work?

The biggest problem we've had with Shaw only occurs when you try calling pizza places. They can't automatically direct you to the nearest location. Could be an issue with Shaw or it could be due to the fact that our number is unlisted. Either way, if that's the worst thing I could come up with to complain about, that says something.

I would assume so, but I would also assume that CIA customers would be last on their list.
My sister has CIA and oh boy what a nightmare that has become. They have the phoneline and internet bundle however their phoneline doesn't work and they can't get hold of CIA and so they have been without a phone for a few months now... but the worst part is, they can't seem to even talk to anyone to cancel their subscription and just go with shaw.
Then again, my sister and her husband are kinda lazy so they aren't trying too hard either...

We moved into a new house a few months ago and were going to go with Rogers. They couldn't get a guy out to the house to connect us until a week after we moved in... and then the day that was supposed to happen our phone still didn't work. We called them and they said they would send someone in 2 days. We just said 'forget it, we won't be using your service, we're going with Shaw'.
A month later we get a bill from Rogers for a month of service, and the charge to hook up the phone which was never hooked up. We had been using Shaw the entire month and they'd been great.
My wife had 3 or 4 talks with Rogers customer service over the next few weeks... waiting on hold for over 30 minutes each time she called them. Each time she would tell them the story from the start because they 'had no record of this'. It was getting ridiculous. Nothing was ever fixed, and they would end up contacting us that we had an overdue bill after it was 'sorted out' with them multiple times.
Stay away from Rogers home phone. Shaw has been great.

I have been with Shaw for couple of months but just seeing what else is out there...
I was with Rogers before that, and Im still getting billed by them...I have to call every time i see their bill and make sure they're not charging me, the dude tells me "sorry for the inconveince, your account is closed" twice they said that...and I still get their bill...so I finall freaked out on them the other day...this time they put a hold on the account, whatever that does, as long as i dont get billed any dont have to call anymore....
and Telus, lets just say I would REFUSE thier service even if they offered me FREE LIFETiME service....thats how bad that experince was....

That's what I was thinking, they were supposed to show up yesterday between 4PM and 8PM. No show.
I've been on hold for over an hour, still holding. They have a weird call center, if they're too busy the automated voice will tell you to call back later and it hangs up on you.
Just curious, what does it cost for Shaw internet and phone?

I get my internet and cable bundle from Shaw and have had no problems with any of it whatsoever. I don't even have a landline, just a cell and am with Bell Mobility and so far they have been great.
