Haha! I've seen him too along the ctrain lines. At first I thought he was an artist displaying an exibit, then I realized he was sleeping in his exibit.

don't know if this guy is around but I used to ride the c-train while going to SAIT and this guy would get on the train and as soon as it would start going he would go into a full on hand stand in the middle of the aisle. He would stay in the hand stand until the train stopped, open the doors, do a lap around the platform, jump back on the train just before it would leave and then repeat the routine all over.

I never saw him lose balance and come out of the handstand while the train was moving!!

He has a leopard-print sheet that he sleeps on, and carries around a bevy of wonderous marvels that he has collected from the streets and alleys of downtown Calgary.

I just saw him yesterday morning at the Crack Mac's! I was thinking -wow - with that type of ingenuity, why doesn't he get into some sort of carpentry/design program??? I know it's not that simple, but I was impressed by the whole thing.

He was quite tall and had a bald head and he always reminded me of that white "Micheal Jackson" that Homer meets in the mental institute ("happy birthday lisa...."). I would also see him from time to time randomly around town always dressed the same and often reading a book while speed walking.

There was supposedly a legend about him, that he was badly hit by a U of C maintenance vehicle and thus granted lifelong free tuition in exchange for no publicity/lawsuit.
Yeah, jogging pants guy. I hear he got run over by a landscaping truck in the mid 80's. The settlement was all expenses paid university until he finished his degree. They didn't mention what degree. So he takes a course program until he is 1 course away from graduation, then switches majors.

It's no doubt not true, but it's a good story.

The other thing I have to talk about. In my home town (which was pretty small) we had a town drunk. You would see him all the time on main street dressed in rags, often yelling or sleeping. Your typical mess, and the sort of person your parents tell you to avoid when you are a kid.

Well, I didn't find out till years later. The guy had been a successful engineer, wife, kids, nice house, the whole nine yards. One day driving home he was in an accident, and his entire family was killed. And that was it. He never recovered emotionally.

I always think about that a little bit when I see a homeless person. They can be pretty funny to watch, no doubt, and some of them belong in an institution, but if you look to their past, you might just find some tragedy that would leave any one of us in a similar position.

I have two favourites:

The guy that looks like Weird Al who walks around downtown super fast and checks all the newspaper boxes for change. He'll zip out across the street without warning to make it to the next corner of boxes. I'm surprised he's still alive given his darting techniques.

Our favourite though is "Crazy Rodeo Guy" as we call him. He is a quiet unassuming Asian guy who works somewhere downtown and takes the 101 or 104 in. The guy is the hugest rodeo fan, he's got a PBR jacket, always listens to country music, and is typically reading a rodeo magazine. He gets off at the stop just west of Gulf Canada and will stand in the doorway, lean back like he's in on a bronc and as the driver is about to open the door will nod his head and say "okay let's go!!" and go bursting out the door. Love to know where he works and what he does.

That guy has been around a long, long time. He spends that money on lottery tickets, I used to see him buying them at the smoke shop in Gulf Canada Square all the time. I have no doubt he will one day win big, they always do (or ironically, already have, but don't change)

My favorite was the large African guy who I used to see roller blading or cycling around. He had all kinds of gear on, goggles, and a large helmet, more like a rock climbing/caving helmet than a cycling helmet, that said "sergeant crash" or something like that on it.

a couple of months ago, a friend of mine and I were walking along 7th ave, when this person kicks my friend in the back of the leg and speed walks past us. Both of us are yelling "WTF is your problem??" as they walk quickly away. We both looked at each other and shrugged. About 2 minutes later, that person is standing right in front of us, staring, twitching. Absolutely crazy look in her eyes. "ARE YOU GOING TO PRESS CHARGES? ARE YOU CHARGING ME WITH ASSAULT???" I can't remember what we said. Something like "Whatever, weirdo. Relax." We kept walking and didn't look back.

Oh, I know who you're talking about. Yeah, he once darted by me muttering something. Kinda scary how he darts into oncoming traffic.

Another guy I see all the time is +15 guy. The guy that just walks around the +15s endlessly.

He had a lot of great and important things to tell the world.

Listen up cause this is all true. I have the documents that he gave me that day my life was turned upside down. They are very official looking photocopies so it must be true. PM me if anyone wants to see the evidence.

He is the real Prime minister of Canada first off. He was imprisoned by a group of Black ops types from the US that wanted to install a new powerbase of individuals form......... Estevan Saskatchwan.

All the most powerful people in the world are from Estevan and are related to the Hart family. The pope for instance is actually a female member of the Hart family. The Clintons, Bush's, all from Estevan, all related to the Harts.

There is much more. Again PM me for the evidence

This old feller offered me a prime place in his government if I was to donate to his cause and which I gladly donated one canadian dollar and took copies of the evidence to share with others.
I think I spoke to this guy once. I must have been really hammered because I barely recall it, so I'm sure it was a great two-way conversation. I may have just dreamed it, but your story sounds too similar to my vague memory

A true LOL moment for me, as I am in ma's kitchen in... World Power-Base-Estevan! If you don't mind I am going to run this by some people down here, just to confirm. The pope part is my fav. I wonder if Estevan's power is because it's the geographic center of N.America? It also has the most millionaires per capita in Canada, I think... Could be something to this buisness.

Yeah, I've been startled by him. I was waiting outside on a corner for some buddies once when he breezed through my '1 foot personal space bubble' on his way for some change. Before I could be frightened-He was gone.Poof. Just like that. He's kind of like a phantom, that guy.

Well on the train this morning an evil looking lady get's on the train and sits down at the end of the train car. She then proceeds to glare at everyone around her and then slams her bag on the seat a few times. And then stares....
She repeats this almost every minute and/or at every stop.

I saw that guy about 10 years ago at the beer garden behind the chutes at the Stampede. Ty Murrey was there. This guy came up to him with a big poster with all sorts of signatures on it and asked Ty to sign it. At the time Ty Murrey was the Wayne Gretzky of rodeo. I didn't really hear much of the conversation. But Ty was looking at him like he was crazy.

Hey I talked to this guy once!

He was at the U of C train station, and he handed me a pamphlet on his 'views', and he did say he was the Prime Minister of Canada. He said he needed my vote really badly.

His arguments were so ludicrous (or completely genius, I don't know), that I decided it would be a crime NOT give him my vote.

I told him I will definitely vote for him in the next election, and then he lokoed at me blankly and yells "I DON'T WANT YOUR &%*$# VOTE YOU PIECE OF #$(&#$!!!!" and then rips up the nice pamphlet he gave to me.

Then, he stormed off, and his pants started to fall down.

It was the greatest day in the history of my time at the U of C.

I wonder if he wants to buy blue rays of 'the burt' and what it will look and sound like...

It saddens me to see +15 guy because I remember the first time I saw him a year and a half ago roaming around he was clean-shaven and pretty decent looking. My co-workers have discussed maybe helping him somehow but in the end... there really isn't a way.

During the whole Facebook thing where we tried to get him backstage with Gwen Stefanie(sp?), apparently some of the people tried to approach him; even with the assistance of a social worker- as there were people interested in helping him out a bit. My understanding is it didn't go well.

I wish I could remember everything that he said. I have the documents somewhere. They looked like a prop from a movie with scribblings and maps and diagrams all over.

I do remember he asked me if I knew how come the pope was an imposter. It's because the true pope has a special pope ring and if you look at the pope, you would see he doesn't have the ring on. Apparently, the real pope hid it before he was captured and imprissoned by a secret branch of the US military.

When I was talking to him, I actually missed my stop. The 2 girls across from me must have thought I was nuts too. I really pretended to believe him. I think this caught him off guard because by the end he was stretching to find more info for me. I kept asking him more and more questions.
